As mentioned above, making the choice to try and get help is a step in itself for me, however im not entirely sure how to get going. Im aware theres alot of info on this site but i personally value the opinions and experiences of everyone here. Please tell me how you got started, and how i might follow in the same way.
Thank you

Hey Probitionism

I hear you loud and clear it is overwhelming to know where to start to get help
I applaud you for asking others here and approaching the matter thoughtfully

For me the place I first got help was through calling Lifeline when i wasn't sure if my mental health was deteriorating or where I stood with my personal problems....
I then called BeyondBlue, who transferred me to the Psych Triage to get further mental health support. Through this I was able to attend a public hopsital admission and have access to mindfulness courses, which I continue to be interested in to this day.
There's no one way but if you're open - ther will be A way which can at least make things easier.
what is your goal or what issue are you working on? Perhaps some others can share how they got help too. Hoping you find this site useful and informative.... big welcome

Hello Probitionism..

A very warm and caring welcome to the forums..

Sleepy has given you some good advice..

another way to start getting the help you need is through your Dr..If you ring up and make a long appointment with him/her...then when it’s your appointment..tell them honestly about how you’re thoughts and how your feeling mentally....Most Dr. will then give you a mental health assessment test...(K10)..which tells them how deep your depression/anxiety is...Then your Dr,,will organise a mental health Care Plan with professional to help you manage your mental health better or if there is something that has caused your mh downfall...ie trauma etc...

I hope I have helped you a bit..

Please keep talking here if you feel to and keep us updated on how your doing..

My kindest and most caring thoughts..

Grandy..

Hi probitionism how my journey to start getting better started is I made a appointment to see my gp and as I was so nervous & anxious I typed and printed out a list of symptoms/signs I was feeling which at the appointment with her I handed that straight to my gp. From there she asked like a bit about family history, how I’ve been feeling ect ect ect and then gave me a k10 test to do over two weeks before coming back to see her and to bring back the k10 test. It was so hard to talk about everything as also a few days before I want to see my gp to talk about my issues my grandmother passed away so was a mess and had a bit of a break down during the appointment.
