Hi there,

my name is Jess and I’m here hopefully to seek advice and understand my mental health a bit better. I struggle with BPD, anxiety and depression and things have been pretty dark for a while and also being medication resistant

Hello J774 and welcome to the forum. Good to have you here.

Coping with several mental health issues at the same time is not pretty. Take care of one and another pops up.

When you say you are medically resistant do you mean meds in general do not work for you or does it mean you do not want to take them? It's going to be a bit of a struggle if you do not want to take medication. Perhaps we can talk about this.

Have you looked around this site? Go to The Facts at the top of the page and follow the various avenues to get to the information on depression and anxiety. You may find it useful.

Love to hear more about you.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for the welcome!

Yeah when I say medically resistant I mean the meds just aren’t working I’ve tried like 15 different meds and had zero response - it really sucks 😞

I’ve had a bit of a look around esp in the forums and the facts section

Hello Jess, I agree with Mary, 'coping with several mental health issues at the same time is not pretty', but am I able to ask how many doctors you have you seen to get these 15 different types of medication.

It's been almost two weeks since you posted your thread and we'd love to hear back from you.

Geoff.

Hello Jess

Just checking in with you. How are you going? I hope the silence means you are feeling better.

I understand about meds not working. I had many different medications with no success. I am presuming the meds you have been prescribed are from the SSRI group as this is the most usual. My GP put me on to a medication from the TCA group, the original antidepressants. These got a bit of bad press because of side effects but these days doctors do not prescribe large doses as they did in the past. I have no side effects and it was not long before I felt the benefit. Have a chat to your prescribing doctor and see what he/she has to say. It may be good to explore other options with them.

We would love to hear from you again.

Mary

Hi Mary and Geoff, Sorry it’s been a busy few weeks and I forgot to check the threads

I’ve had 2 doctors, 2 psychiatrists and 3-4 psychologists and tried SSRIs, SNRIs mood stabilisers, antipsychotics and TCAs and had no success, not even a little bit. I’m a bit concerned what they want to try next as there’s not heaps of options

Thanks for responding again 🙂

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m doing therapy with my meds but really struggle to see any difference and it’s been around 4 years since trying my first medication and everything is just getting worse with no sign of getting better

I don’t see a light at the end of my tunnel only darkness and it’s really scary 😞
