Getting a handle on my depression

Hi everyone

A few months ago I was having a really hard time. Had no self drive or motivation like I used to. Also had low mood, trouble sleeping and drinking. It all came to a head in August that broke me.
Have made some progress but feel that I need to get some more help. Am seeing a GP and utilising some online resources. GP has written a mental health plan and has been really supportive. Family not so.

my biggest concern is when I come across a trigger, and being able to cope when that happens. Would love to put in place positive habits now that will last. . Am on my own in this, so finding support would be good.
Just my thoughts today ......

thanks

Hello Scooter...

Well done being so pro active with your mental health...and I’m glad you have a very supportive GP...which makes managing our mh a bit easier....

Triggers....oh yeah I get them at times..my counsellor keeps telling me as soon as I know I’m triggered I need to try to ground myself as quickly as I can...so the fee, thoughts, etc don’t continue to dig deeper into me..

I have a Grounding box..that I use when I get triggered...the instructions on making one is on the Grounding thread..”What is Grounding and how do we”..

Another way of Grounding ourself...which is bringing yourself back to the here and now..is looking around you very mindfully looking at something that you like...then .using our five senses..touch, sight, hear, feel, and taste...to bring us back into the here and now...

It takes some practice and does help to stop some triggers before their progression get to deep to manage..

My kind and most caring thoughts Scooter..

Grandy..
