I suffer from galactosemia and it does come with mental illness too. my crappy disability.
I got diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2011 when I was very sick and I lost my paying part time job then.
I feel socially isolated from people and I spend most of my time smoking cigarettes out of depression and boredom.
I feel depressed and lost with other people. I am suffering mental pain from my crappy medical issues
I feel like I have no friends. I am taking monthly medication for schizo from my doctor. injections
there is no fun in my life anymore for me. everything is a chore and it
is really hard for me. I am getting more introverted the older that I
get, spending time alone

Dear Redwings~
My apologies for the delay, thank you for your post, we try to help, we use our own experiences to show others how things can go - hopefully this is encouraging and short-cuts some problems.
Here I was reluctant to post because I'm not familiar with galactosemia and hoped someone else with experience in that area would pick up the reference. If there is they haven't logged on recently.
So please bear with me. Perhaps you might come back and give me a little information about what it does, and the adjustments you have to make as a result.
There are on the other hand people who have a variety of mental illnesses. Mine was PTSD, anxiety, depression. It was a long time ago and I'm in a pretty reasonable state now, some setbacks but on the whole life is worth living with accomplishments and a loving family.
While you have set out a picture of things, I'd be interested in knowing more. Do you live by yourself? It sounds as if you might. You did mention a job that you had, did you specialize in any area, or do you have interests of your own?
This is not just being nosy - to talk to anyone in this 'text-only world' it helps to know a little about the person.
Often we cannot directly offer suggestions about root causes of problems, but by an indirect approach help, or sometimes make things more bearable.
As for spending time alone making one introverted, I can understand.
As an aside I assist someone who does live alone, except for those that come in to service medical matters, and I've watched that person's perspective change over time. To start with the person became more introvert and isolated. Then (we are talking a long period here) matters changed and via study and various online forums (no not this one) and the outlook became much broader.
Please feel free to post again and say more, there will be understanding and care

I live with my dad. on his property.
As with further study, there are learning disabilities with gal. and I have never gone to university, it would be a waste of my time.
I used to have a firewood bagging job just part time. until mental illness made me sick
I failed year 12 exams in 2000. Galactosemia makes me NEVER eat dairy - milk, cream, butter and yogurt.
it comes with mental illness too and I never had a girlfriend. my people skills are pretty shitty and I would not cope with a baby in my life.
My dad and mum were cousins, pretty embarrassing family history

Dear Redwing~
Thanks for the reply - you do sound a bit down. To get one thing right out the way -there is nothing wrong with your family history, its who the people are -honesty, caring, thoughtful; that's what counts, not the family tree.
Ok so you are not a big scholar, actually if the truth be known there are probably more like you than uni students.
The next time you see your doctor for your injection why not ask to be tested for depression too - can't hurt, might be a help, you never know.
As for never having had a girlfriend, many people only ever find one - the right one, and there is no timetable. With for kids, cross that bridge when you come to it.
What sort of property does your dad have - sheep? How far away from town are you?
Cheers for now

I am distant from people and I smoke cigarettes at off-peak time at our local pub.
just to avoid people.
and I am ABDL - I wear diapers to help me from depression (adult baby diaper lover)
I want to get cancer from my filthy ciggies. I have no friends and life is miserable for me

Redwing, you certainly have a few things to work out here so lets break it down somewhat.
I had no idea what galactosemia is - just googled it and have a little bit but not much knowledge now.
I'm wondering if there is a specific diet that you can get onto to help with your food intake. Food has such a massive bearing on our mental health. With all of those things that you cannot eat it must be hard to organise meals. There would have to be a meal plan to assist you.
Are you on medication for the schizophrenia? Might be something you need to discuss with your GP and as Croix says above, you need to address the depression.
Lets start off with these and we will work through the other matters later.
Mark.
