Hi beader,
I've experienced the same thing, and for me, the easiest way past it is 'baby steps'
What I mean by baby steps is start small and work your way back up. Go for a short walk around the corner, go to the coffee shop for a coffee/places where you have brief interactions with people etc. This is what I did. I know how hard it is get out and about when you're feeling depressed and anxious but putting some structure like this in place it does get easier and easier.
I encourage to talk to your family and friends about how you feel as well.

Hi beader
Welcome to the forums, we are glad you are here. It's hard when mental illness gets in the way of our social life. Can you think of reasons why you are saying no to catching up? Identifying some of the reasons may help you brainstorm some solutions to grow and move past this- using baby steps as Gambit87 says . Let us know what you think.
