Anxious geek
welcome to this forum and thanks for writing your first post.
I am glad you have taken this first step to go to detox.
I have not been through the same process but I had a close friend w no did find some of the rules restrictive .
I can understand how you would feel confined. Is there a counsellor. Or someone you can talk to about how you feel.
By answering your post this will enable more people to see it.

Hi AnxiousGeek80,
Welcome to the forums and thank you for being here!
A big kudos to you for deciding to go into detox, such a massive step in the right direction.
I was curious about the rule so I did a little research and apparently smoking makes it harder to withdraw and more likely to relapse, so I'm not sure if that's helpful for you to know but it's not just them being a party pooper 🙂
Do you have much support around you, how do you think we can support you?
I'll also share this link with you- it's like our forums but just for drug and alcohol use only -https://forum.counsellingonline.org.au/ Hopefully you can find some extra support there too
