Demented dementors

Ok, this one for all the Harry potter fans...

The Dementors from Harry Potter, are based on JK Rowlings experience of depression.

Makes a lot of sense, they suck away all sense of happiness, shroud you in a black fog, and bring out all of your deepest darkest thoughts.... Plus they guard the jail - it's like you are locked up in your own personal cell...

So, now I wish I could run around yelling "Expecto Patronum" and have a cool Patronus of my dog run around and banish my personal Dementors away... All I need is a happy thought, a wand and lots of courage.

The crap you find on the net when you are wasting time trying not to feel anything....*sigh*

Hi Ginge-Ninje

While I'm not into H.P at all, I do know of the Dementors, as my kids used to be quite into it.  I thought that was an awesome name for whatever they were ... and now to find out they are based on J.K. Rowlings on bouts of depression, well that all makes sense.

There is something quite evil with that word, Dementor.

We need to find you a good book or something, hey?

Cheers

Neil

Ginger ... loved your post, being a BIG HP fan.

The BEST term I found to describe my mother was "dementor".

I never tried "expecto patronum" on her ... I did manage to say, at some dinner party, that she was "brought up drinking razor blades marinated in lemon juice".

I think, though, that at one level, the HP stories are about finding courage and determination within yourself ... while the wands and the magic help ... they're not the most important thing ...

Now how about sharing a pack of Bertie Botts Jelly Beans and a Butter Beer?
