Counselling help

Hi Everyone,

I am going through a bit of a slump at the moment and just wondering what sort of councillor would help the most.

I have basically been in bed since June and am feeling No motivation even though Iā€™m not feeling dreadfully down like I have in the past.

I am not going out at all except for once a week when I go with my boyfriend to my parents house for dinner, which I sometimes miss.

I have been seeing a psychologist for about five sessions but I feel like I might need some sort of more practical help to help me out. I find psychologists are a lot about listening rather than actual advice on what to do.

Would a therapist or something be a better option for me?

Thanks a lot šŸ™‚

Juliet

Hi Juliet,
Sorry to hear that you've been in bed since June and that you're going through a slump. I'm wondering if a mental health service would help you if you're looking for more practical support - like Neami National? I was actually just looking at their website the other day wondering if they could maybe help me...

Hello Juliet,

Lass if you haven't already... do you feel able to speak to your psychologist about what you are hoping/wanting to get from your sessions... Your psych may be able to help you with more practical advice or even suggest what or if other services may be able to help you.

Your GP may also be able to suggest other options you could try... as they usually know what is available in your area.

Have you read through the "who can assist" section on bb (link is at the bottom of the screen under get support) it has very helpful information about the different types of support available & a search facility to look up practitioners in your nominated area.

Don't forget the bb helpline or chat online services... they can help point you to services around you.
