Can't get anything done

For most of this year I have been sleeping alot during the day because of illness and other things as well. I live on my own in a rental unit. However since the beginning of last year I have slowly lost interest in the things I used to like and I have cried a lot and felt sick. I also dont want to do anything not even food shopping. I am on anti depressants but they may not be working. I am also unable to concentrate. Can anyone give me advice.

Hello Leena,

Welcome to the Beyond Blue Forums, wher you will meet some wonderful people who are willing to give you their insight into there own mental health problems and try to guide you on the right path to your wellness.

Im really sorry your struggling so much depression...many people will be able to relate to how your feeling..

The best thing that I think you can do is to try your best to distract your thoughts away from unhealthy ones by finding and doing something that you like and you need to concerntrate on, some ideas, internet mind challenging games.. jig saws, tv, music, I find instrumentals are best, pick a instrument and follow that instrument right through the song with earphones in..there just a few ideas.

Leena , is it possible for you to go back to your gp and tell him/her how your feeling, maybe your gp might need to look into your meds being reviewed..Then your gp will refer you to a psychologist and get a mental health care started..The mental health Care Plan let's you see a psychologist for ten free visits..

Wishing you all the best..and please feel free to talk her anytime..I hope to hear back to see how you get on.

Kind thoughts,

Grandy..
