Hi Tiger28,
I’m not sure if this is related but I received a bipolar diagnosis years ago when I was younger. I don’t know if it was just for that time or if it’s carrying through till now. I’ve been experiencing depression and lack of motivation lately and have wondered about possibly going on medication and seeking more clarity about the bipolar diagnosis. I feel scared about this.. I felt alone when I received a bipolar diagnosis previously because I didn’t want to be labelled or defined by it.. but at the same time I want to understand more about why I’m feeling the way that I am. Thanks for sharing your story.

Tiger welcome to the forums and thanks for reaching out.
I was diagnosed with bipolar many many decades ago when there was a lot of stigma and not much information. I can relate to feeling lost and stuck at times and feeling under motivatied. I have been on medication for over 30 years. There is a thread called This bipolar life where people are welcome to share their thoughts and meet others. Sunflower you and tiger are welcome to the this bipolar life thread.
I know this may sound as a cliche but I do find taking one day at a time does help.
Sunflower it can be tricky not wanting to be labelled but also wanting help and understanding you.
Tiger and sunflower I have given talks about my journey and have found the 4 Hs are important have helped me.
Health both physical and mental health are important.
Honesty to myself and others helps me to be aware of what help I need.
Humour , this may sound unusual but the ability at times to see the lighter side.
Hope this is so important even when one is struggling to know one has hope for the future.
All the best to you both and We are listening. I am willing to answer any questions here or on This bipolar life thread. Thanks both for your honesty . You have helped others reading your words but who may not be able to reply.

Hello Tiger28,
I’m the same as you, about the same timeline and currently the same symptoms. Getting used to mood stabilizers has really set me back. The lack of motivation is real, even simple tasks I have to convince myself to do for much longer than it would take to just do them.
It’s been a few months now, I hope you’ve improved.

Hello again. I have been mood stabiliser for a few decades. As I get older I find I get tired easily. Everyone is different.
