Dear Mark~
Riding is something else and you are in control even if relaxed. If someone tries on purpose to force you off the road your feelings toward them would not be it's your fault or you's done something wrongs, you'd brake, get behind, take his number (or make sure you could recognize the bike, and then take the appropriate action (ie call the cops). Happened to me once, a complete stranger for no reason except he could.
It's much the same situation here, you have someone who is trying to force you out of your job and you already know my advice, take notes, get allies and then when you have enough report him, either to the boss, or if not cooperative then the Fair Work Ombudsman.
Getting to know you colleagues is not a fast thing, you may be right they are frightened of what he might do, so it takes patience.
Counseling and therapy will help as by now you have a great deal of anxiety about this, as will family and freinds support. It is disappointing he may not leave before Christmas, however I think you will learn to cope.
Hang in there Mark
Croix
Good luck for when you go back.
