Hello everyone,
it's the first day of the new year and the first day of a new century. I wonder what this year and this century has in store for everyone.
I wanted to wish BB forum, members and all those wonderful people who help all those people with their problems (what ever the problems are) a wonderful Happy New Year.
I'm not one of those people who make new year resolutions, as I tend break or lose interest of keeping those resolutions.
Instead I decided to sort through my things, and put those items into a box or bags, of the things that I only have used once or twice. Then I will donate those things to an op-shop. It's a slow process, as I didn't realise how much stuff I was holding onto, and no I'm not a hoarder.
Has anyone got any other ideas that could be done, to help themselves or other people in their own neighbourhood.
I thought that it might be a useful topic to talk about, for a lighter topic.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi SilvaLady,
2020 sounds space age to me - I think this may be because I am no spring chicken any more.
Your donation idea sounds like a great way to start the year. In answer to your question regarding what we could do to help people in our own neighbourhoods, I think something as simple as smiling at our own neighbours , or giving them a wave or even a quick convo would be a great start. I remember my parents and grandparents were good friends with their neighbours. Back then neighbours were like family but in these busy times neighbours tend to be strangers. When I read your post the first thing that came to mind was my ex neighbour (I have moved recently) coming to my door, embarrassed to be there but asking for help as she was I some pain and needed to got to the hospital and wondering if I could help. In getting to know her a bit better I found out she had been in some distress over some varied issues for over six months. She lived on her own an was extremely isolated through all of this. It pained me to think she had been suffering when I was only metres away and I was oblivious to it.
In regards to your clean out and amassing lots of stuff, I hear you. I consider myself quite the minimalist and every few months I am amazed at how stuff creeps back into the garage and storage bins. How on earth does that happen when I carefully consider what I purchase? How did you go with this clean out process anyhow, did you end up with lots of donations?
Happy New Year to you SilvaLady 🙂

Hello calmseeker ,
I'm sorry for the long delay for the reply. As I was going through my things for donations, the coronavirus epidemic hit Australia and I didn't or couldn't donate anything that I had put aside already. So I thought I would do it towards the end of the year or when the epidemic of coronavirus would end.
Hope you are keeping well.
