The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.

The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.

Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...

So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...

Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open

At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay

Hi Kanga,

Thanks for stopping by my table. Always good to make acquaintance with new patrons.

Sorry to read about your loss...it sounds like she was a terrific, big-hearted person. The kind I could easily relate to. This world needs activists...

How old are your children ?  Coping without a Mum must be heart-breaking for them but it seems they also have a great Dad.

Good to see  you putting your feet up, here at the cafe. Relax, take a break from worldly affairs and enjoy finding out  the surprises this haven has to offer.

Hi everyone, I decided to copy Sherie's and bring in some pre-dinner nibbles and drinks to the cafe. Help yourselves to nuts, corn chips, salsa, dips and bikkies, cheeses, grapes and strawberries. There's beer and wine still in the fridge from Sherie last night and I've brought diet cola and ginger beer.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Hiya Star - yes those doggies sure know how to keep us up at night eh? How lovely it must be to have so much wildlife around you. My hubby (a Pom) has been here just over three years and is still fascinated by our Aussie wildlife. He's a keen motorcyclist and often goes out exploring the countryside, along dirt roads and such. He usually comes home with tales of the wildlife he sees along the way.

Thanks for the lovely message, yes I've had some good R&R today - bit of shopping at a vintage clothing market where I found some great brooches (I collect brooches) and some great shoes in an op shop nearby. It was hubby's idea to go out. he thought I needed a spot of retail therapy bless him. Left to my own devices I would have probably flopped on the couch all day.

Hi kanga_brumby - we've met before on the 'last one to post' thread I think. Great to see you in the cafe. Your lady sounds like she was a beautiful soul and the world is that little bit better for her presence. Hope you stay here with us.

Hiya Shell - hugs back to you hun. I remember the Flower Pot men Bill and Ben, and the Little Weed. I loved that show when I was a kid. If you're of that vintage, you might remember Kimba the White Lion too? Oh I loved Kimba. I still remember the song - 'Who believes in doing good and doing right, Kimba the White Lion is the one!' I'm sure my strong sense of social justice came from watching Kimba.

Hi Sherie - you might remember those shows too? Don't make 'em like they used to eh? What was your favourite TV show when you were little?

A shout out to our beautiful Grace - how are you possum? Hope you had a good week at school and are enjoying a peaceful weekend.

Hi too to the amazing Paul, and all others Out There - and a special mention to the delightful Fairywings who has been sprinkling her magical fairy dust around the site lately. What a joy you are hun.

Cheers everyone

Kaz

Hi Kaz,  and thanks for the nibbles.  I have helped myself to the corn chips and salsa.  I like those.  I also had a glass of the Shiraz wine, it goes with the Roast Lamb I had for our dinner tonight!  Only one glass - all good! ( - :

And of course I remember those TV shows.  I think I would have been about 7yo before we finally got tele in the bush.  But I do remember Bill and Ben, Kimba and the original Play School.  When I was a teenager I can remember watching F Troop, Greenacres and the Beverley Hillbillies.  I think I'm a little older  than most of you guys!

Grace - I have not seen hide nor hair of you over the past day and a half!  What have you been up to sweet girl?

Hi there Shell.  Hope you are okay my friend?  Did you get rain where you are today?  We are still getting showers here now.  Its kept up all day, off and on.  Nice .........

Starwolf - did you get the rain over your side of the range, or was it restricted to the coastal strip?

Kanga - your partner sounds like she was a very unique and beautiful person.  Do your children remind you of her?

Catch you all later.  Meanwhile enjoy all the goodies that Kaz very kindly brought in for you.

Hi Shell,

When I first started posting here I was feeling very lost.  I had been in pain for such a long time and sad because of it but when the sadness became overwhelming and things began to change I felt quite hopeless.

Being diagnosed with major depression and anxiety came as such a surprise to me that when I got home I logged on here and did the online quiz. Needless to say I was surprised again when it came up as high risk.  I have always been very open to being wrong and learning from mistakes so it didn't take me long to delve into understanding what it all meant. However as the first type of medication I tried started working I had such bad side effects and felt very lost and isolated myself from everyone except my immediate family thinking noone could possibly understand.

It took a lot more reading for me to understand myself and then to educate my partner. I have been in touch with friends via messages but only one in person.

However since joining you and the other fine folk in these forums and reading through the stories people have shared, I really don't feel so lost anymore.

On that note, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Carol and I am very glad to have met everyone here.

I'm just going to help myself to a piece of quiche before it's all gone. It looks delicious.

Oh Sherie! Memories haha. I loved F-Troop. And Gilligan's Island and Hogan's Heroes, Gomer Pyle and McCale's Navy. And Dad's Army and It Ain't Half Hot Mum, and Are You Being Served, and Get Smart and Lost in Space. But the Goodies was probably my favourite.

Yes, Play School, Sesame Street, Adventure Island, and Mr Squiggle when I was little. Happy times.

I remember the very first Countdown episode too, when colour TV started. Did you watch Molly recently?

I'm getting old aren't I, remembering things from childhood but can't remember what I watched last night. 😀

Hi my dear friends!!

Sherie, thank you so much for asking, I've been busy for the past few days, I went to a morning shift at work today, after that I went for lunch and shopping with my friend, which was really good 🙂 And now I'm just relaxing, tomorrow gotta get a bit of homework done!! And what have you been up to my dear friend? ❤️

And to everyone in this lovely cafe, have a great evening!! I'm gonna try to sleep early tonight as I woke up at 7 for my morning shift XD

Good night everyone, my love and thoughts are with you!! 😛

With Love,

Grace xxx

hi Kazzl and Sherie, I have been in last to post. The kids are 17  and 14 typical children. Both drive me mad sibling type arguments.  I only do my best.

My daughter (17) reminds me of my mother and her mother. With things she does or phobias. It was sad when cancer took both my mother and her mother. As a result it has contributed my daughter and my self having depression and anxiety disorders. Plus my health has gone north for the winter. The joys of old age.

Kazz,

How about:   Bewitched, Lassie, The Monkees, Bonanza, Mister Ed, Flipper, The Flying Nun, Flintstones, My Favourite Martian,  Rin Tin Tin, Popeye, Yogi Bear.  All good stuff showing I think in the 60's and into the 70's?

Ha ha, you're still not as old as I am ....................          ( - :

Hi again Kanga,

Yep, they sound typical teenagers!  Very good.  It must be both a blessing and a curse when your daughter reminds you so much of your wife and your mother.  I'm very sorry for your losses.  Is your father still around, or your wifes parents?  I'm sure it would be good to get some support with your kids at times.  Especially for your 17 yo daughter, as she will be needing some female advice from time to time.  It must be incredibly difficult for you to manage, especially when your own health has 'gone North'?

Still, it does sound like you are coping okay.  Its always nice to see you here Kanga, please call in anytime.  There is usually someone around if you want to talk about anything.  Please dont hesitate to ask ..........
