This is meant as a thread to share ideas on how we deal with the angst/sad feeling we sometimes get if we find ourselves at home on what is usually considered a time of the week to be out partying/enjoying oneself. I reckon if we share ideas we can build our self esteem and combat some of that crappy feeling.
Something i find good is watching a film i havent seen for years. Last friday i watched Batman Begins and found a new love for comic superheroes and ended up buying Arkham Asylum on PC which ive never played before. this act on its own is not much, but it was a way to treat myself and basically tune out.
What are other people's ideas?

Hi.. I'm interested to know how arkham asylum is. I bought it years ago and pulled it out of storage the other week as I've never played it.
well.. I'd love to go out at all.. I haven't worked since December and don't make any money, Internet just got cut off You beauty 👍 So I'm stuck at home a lot where I feel it's safe.
well, things I do.. I do go for walks and always take a little football or tennis ball with me. I find it more playful and keeps my mind away from my thoughts and busy life and traffic around me.
i keep in touch with family more and my mum, as for too many years I even kept away from them.. by phone and messages and a game app.
well if you're not bored yet.. keep reading, it doesn't get much better 😮
When im not cringing into a sleep to escape my feeling.. I do some chores, play my guitar. Also I've bought books over the years and started reading some. I'm reading the latest terry brooks series at the moment which is really good. As I can't afford to buy anything, it's good over the years I bought a stack of movies so like you mate, I've been watching some of those like LOTR, goldeneye, x-files, the stand etc.
dont know if your like me, but the thought of playing games is exciting, but then I get to the time of sitting down to play one and go.. nahh.
but yep, Chairman of the bored it probably sounds like, but I just want to get better... that's all.

Hi HamSolo01,
What a fantastic idea for a thread! I think a lot of people struggle with the idea that everyone else is out and doing something interesting. Night time can be the absolute worst time to feel alone and isolated and bored.
Being a family of shift workers and two small kids there are so many isolated nights where I can't leave the house. There are some nights I get overwhelmed but others I try other things to keep busy...
Having a bubble bath and taking a good book in to read.
Putting a running machine in the house and watching a movie or tv while running (got to love feel good endorphins)
Going out in the garden and working at night.
Putting on headphones and dancing like an idiot 😊
My general rule is no chores at night. I feel pretty crappy if I'm doing chores on a weekend.
Also I'm learning there is nothing wrong with staying home or being alone. We are all different 😊

Hey 🙂
I think its a pretty fun smashy smashy game where you get to beat up henchmen, solve puzzles and complete challenges. Like a game game, not a strategy or pray and spray type of game. I like it haha.
I sometimes find that games can be good, but like all things it must be done in moderation. Nothing worse than sitting at home thinking that im wasting my youth by playing made up digital colours moving on a screen. But then i remember im not much of the going out type - depends who is going really. Basically it spirals from there. Im one of those people who looks a certain way (tall, communicable, confident, humourous) but is like the total opposite in reality. Last time i went out was a month back and two strangers on seperate occassions came up to me and told me i was really tall (as if i didnt know already) and i found it so awkward.. they were both dudes too which doesn't mean a thing for me haha. The people i was with were temporary friends anyway, so i bailed. The whole club scene is just not my thing. I mean i can try.. and maybe have a moderately okay time but i do indeed to prefer to talk normally with people. Probably just contributes to my image as a nerd lol. Thats where im more confident, being my nerd self. Its appropriate really considering i have social anxiety too..
In the end we are all different people. Whether others like that or not doesnt matter, i reckon we must own our decisions and be proud of them. I reckon that that's part of getting better too.
Either way, peace out.

Yeah mate.. you sound like a great guy. There's nothing wrong with playing games. Only a smaller percent of the population go out partying, clubbing. It's like a hobby. Other people play sports, or prefer catch up over dinner, gym goers and a lot of people spend all their nights at home after work watching there favourite tv shows. And also a lot spend there evenings night playing video games. Maybe the friends you grew up with were go outers and you feel pressure that that's what you should be doing?
i went through going out to clubs from 18 to about 20 or 21.. then never really went back unless our band had gigs there.
good to hear about the game.. I was a big fan of twitch where people stream there games online. Until my internet just got cut off. Some of those guys make an easy living off doing that through subscribers and donations. I would like to try that one day. Before it got cut off I was watching this guy play 'this is the game' or something like that. It was $2 and look very cool, but really scary . I downloaded it that night but have had a chance with this anxiety. It gives you those jump scares if you fail. Anyway... hope your well mate.
dont worry too much, we're all here to help if you have any questions.

I'm separated with 2 kids. My ex insists on picking them up every Sat (sometimes Fri nite if he's not working next day) and drops them back late Sun. It gives me a break, alone time.
Sometimes it bothers me that I'm alone on a Fri/Sat nite, sometimes I like it. I have friends but I'm so used to doing stuff in the day with them, we rarely go out at night.
I do all the "me" stuff I want that I can't do with the kids. So I watch girly movies with munchies all to myself, make spicy food they don't like, take a looooong shower without interruptions, sit for hours reading or doing my craft. It feels pretty good, like I'm still in there somewhere

You can tell i am too bored/feeling a bit lonely that i am trying to read every word on this forum.
I think you are right. Weekends are tough days for me, when you have to walk off your usual routine and spend time with yourself and those not-so-good emotions.
I am not an outgoing person at all. And yea, like you, I am nerdy. I always had social anxiety, so even during undergrad years, i never really gone out to the club or whatever society events. People think you are missing out, but for me, that's not within my comfort zone. So you are right, be proud at whatever decision you make!
My life is pretty boring otherwise. I listen to music, watch videos on Youtube.
I do nerdy online learning sometimes, about psychology, random science things. Listen to podcasts, watch nerdy shows HAHA. No one can beat me on nerdiness.
But most of all, i enjoy turning the speaker on, sing and dance like an idiot. (Best when there's no one around in the house!)
I love games too! Spent quite a bit of time doing escape room on my phone, also sudoku, even treasure hunts. I love it when things remind me of happy and stress-free childhood 🙂
