Game - Continue the Story

Hi. The rules are quite simple.

1. All you have to do is to come up with the next line of a continuing story.
2. Each line can only be a certain number of words in length - No more than 80 characters.
3. By adding a line, you might be completing a sentence, starting a new sentence, not finishing a sentence.
4. You cannot have 2 posts in a row.

Think that is enough. Just to illustrate, a line added to the story could be

A small wooden cottage comes into view next to a old forest. It appears empty

the next player will have to finish the first sentence. Maybe add a start a new sentence. Nobody is in control of the story (or where it goes)? So I will start with.....

Narrow but long and spiralling up into the darkness and down into the dampness of the dungeon of the castle, hmm should I first go up the stairs or search downs first...

A thought.... why is this land empty of people? Going downstairs! As I go lower the smell of damp and rot increases.

I need to find a torch 🔦, I cautiously continue walking with my hands on the walls to guide me down safely...ewwee what’s all this over me it feel like....

Slug goo. A bright light is ahead at bottom of the winding staircase revealing a room with three doors on the other walls.

Standing their I need to select which door to go through.. one door has a coat of arms engraved into it..the middle door a garden..and the other door a....

snake, and unless these were magical door, it was impossible to believe the second door could lead out to a garden. I spy a note on a table in the middle of the room.

(Grandy, assume you know that that a "snake" is also the symbol of healing?)

Oh no....which door will I go in....Is it a trick to get me to enter the snake door?...I’m going to sit here and wait until someone else selects the door and I’ll follow..

As I sit, pondering my choices, the door to the garden bursts open and a procession of possums brush past, each politely excusing themselves before disappearing up the stairs. There in the doorway stands..

a full length fragmented mirror. Even in its distorted reflection there was no mistaking the snake... But if I could see it in the mirror that could only mean.......
