Hey! Welcome to Friends Cafe.

This is a chill and chat space for young BB members to talk about anything and everything and make new friends.

When school's getting to you, uni or work has got you down, parents, partners, friends don't understand, and especially if you're feeling alone or lonely - come and relax awhile and talk to others who know just how you feel.

Our minds can cause us trouble, but they can also be amazing things that imagine beauty, love and fun. This cafe has everything you can imagine. To start with it's, well, a cafe. So there's chairs and tables, comfy couches for flopping, a big screen tele, unlimited download on computers for games, Spotify (or an old-school jukebox if you prefer), every movie you can think of on instant demand ... whatever you want, it's here. Post and tell us what'd you'd like.

Plus, there's an infinite menu of whatever food or drinks takes your fancy. And it's all free!

To kick it off, today we have a special range of Monster Milkshakes - those thick gooey shakes topped with cronuts, chocolate bars, cake, cookies ... whatever you want. And if you can get through one of them, you're a legend (and probably feeling a little bit sick LOL!)

Welcome friends.

Hi Awh,

I think that I know what you mean. Sometimes loneliness can follow a person everywhere. It doesn't help that it's hard to know where we fit sometimes- I can relate to that feeling. Hopefully, over time, we will both find our place (wherever that may be).

Hey, it's fantastic that you've started checking out unis at open days! True, true, there's a lot more freedom at uni than school! Yeah, the big leap from school to uni can definitely be nerve racking. Maybe you'll make friends with people studying the same course as you because, chances are, if you're studying the same course then you probably have at least some common interests 😉

Ah, that's a nice mix of OT, psych and social work . Is there any particular one that you're leaning towards? I'm mostly just curious ha, ha- they all sound good.

Hi SM,

It does sound like leaving the party a little earlier was the right thing to do to rest and recover. You definitely had a hectic day on Saturday!

Thanks, yeah I'm not very good at balance. It's tough trying to juggle uni and work so I find it hard to squeeze in socialising. Feeling the pressure a bit ha, ha.

Anyway, I hope you're doing well yourself. What are you up to this week?

Hello again everyone,

I'm hoping to do a nursing course actually, and then from there hopefully specialise in Emergency Nursing so I can go on to be a paramedic! A few people and family members I've talked to have spoken rather negatively against the life of a paramedic, but for some reason I just really want to be a paramedic! So I'm going to ignore the negative aspect and focus on the positives 🙂

I hope you guys are coping ok with your very busy sounding lives! I hope you manage to squeeze in some fun between classes and work 😕

Hi all,

Just popping in from the BB cafe to drop off some treats for you all. There are chocolate brownies, bliss balls and some fresh fruit. It sounds like you are all very busy so I hope these help keep you energised for study and all your other activities.

Don't forget your cafe has a terrific yoghurt bar. In fact I have just helped myself to some yummy vanilla greek style yoghurt with fresh berries. Mmmm.

Take care all!

Hi dark_unicorn,

Good for you in staying true to the career path that you feel is right for you 😊 Wow, I have a LOT of respect for paramedics (and nurses for that matter).

It's such a noble profession and it takes someone special to do it. I could never do it in a million years as I couldn't deal with the blood and everything ha, ha. If I was to do it, I would be the most ineffective paramedic in the history of paramedics! So luckily we have people like you.

Thanks for the well wishes. My story is that I'm always stressed about uni (same old, same old). Let's put it this way, I'm looking forward to the summer holidays!!!

Hi Lost Girl,

A thousand thanks for dropping off all the yummy goodies. Very thoughtful of you.

Think I might help myself to some of the Greek yoghurt and fruit too. Maybe I'll sneakily put a few brownies in my bag (for later) when no one is looking 😉

Ha ha ha, I actually watch shows like 24 Hour Emergency and stuff for fun......is it weird that I don't mind watching brain surgeries....while eating dinner.....?

I hope your work eases up soon 🙂

And thank you Lost Girl for the food, sounds delicious! 🙂

Hi dark_unicorn,

I'm glad you're not as squeamish as me! Medical. reality shows can be so interesting. Funnily enough, I'm actually okay watching medical procedures on TV- I just wouldn't be able to stomach the real deal in front of me ha, ha.

Thanks! You're very kind. I've mid-semester exams soon so looking forward to when they're over.

Dottie

Ooooh exams sound.....fun....? Just joking, I hate tests, I've got my end-of-year exams coming up soon actually too. I hope you do well!! If you don't mind me asking, what are you studying at the moment?

dark_unicorn 🙂

Hi dark_unicorn and everyone else too 😊

Thanks! Likewise, all the best with your exams too!

I'm studying a double degree in Commerce/Psych.
