Hey! Welcome to Friends Cafe.

This is a chill and chat space for young BB members to talk about anything and everything and make new friends.

When school's getting to you, uni or work has got you down, parents, partners, friends don't understand, and especially if you're feeling alone or lonely - come and relax awhile and talk to others who know just how you feel.

Our minds can cause us trouble, but they can also be amazing things that imagine beauty, love and fun. This cafe has everything you can imagine. To start with it's, well, a cafe. So there's chairs and tables, comfy couches for flopping, a big screen tele, unlimited download on computers for games, Spotify (or an old-school jukebox if you prefer), every movie you can think of on instant demand ... whatever you want, it's here. Post and tell us what'd you'd like.

Plus, there's an infinite menu of whatever food or drinks takes your fancy. And it's all free!

To kick it off, today we have a special range of Monster Milkshakes - those thick gooey shakes topped with cronuts, chocolate bars, cake, cookies ... whatever you want. And if you can get through one of them, you're a legend (and probably feeling a little bit sick LOL!)

Welcome friends.

Hey Tara, the HP soundtrack is magical 🙂 I've got a CD of John Williams' soundtrack highlights and Hedwig's theme is there as you'd imagine. He's done some wonderful compositions.

Morning Zeal

Yeah we must have both been online last night because every time I switched between forums there was another message from you 🙂 I kind of wish we got notifications when people reply to your post but I hear they are working on introducing that feature! I also wonder what it would be like to have an older brother ahah and often tell my sister I wish she was a boy haha

I'm sorry to hear that you and your sister have drifted apart somewhat; I think I have lost a lot of the closeness between myself and my younger sister, as she tends to distance/isolate herself because of her depression 😞 But I hope, just like you, that our relationships with them will grow and re-develop over time 🙂

I love that your family refers to your dogs as handsome haha I think I may have to start doing that haha.

What are you all up to today? Working again James? Still working on your assignment Dotti?

Hey Tara 🙂

Yeah I didn't really feel a difference between 14-15 but I think having a 'sweet sixteenth' definitely made me feel somewhat older haha especially getting my L's also! Good luck with your test; there is a mock-up DKT (Driver's Knowledge Test) app that I downloaded beforehand and did a few times a day that I found to be exactly the same as the real test! Maybe look into that. Haha wow, I'm surprised you let them put it on your head haha I mean I wouldn't question it but I am a tad odd.

I'm glad you also speak to your pets in a language other than English haha glad I am not the only one 🙂 What have you got planned for today; hopefully something more interesting that studying like I am.

Sure am 😞 I'd much prefer to be writing though. There's a couple of events on today that I feel like I should go to, but I don't really want to. I might just go for a little bit to say hi, then leave.

And you? Studying at home? What're your subjects?

I hope you find some downtime to relax as well, maybe practice drawing eyes and lips... you know, since you don't need to know noses for your next masterpiece 😛 I am lucky enough to have a day off work today woohoo but am spending its entirely studying/memorising quotes 😞 I do 4- unit English, Art, Community and Family Studies and Retail Operations. What events do you have on today, if you don't mind me asking? 🙂

Hey!

Tara - I enjoyed watching the Harry Potter movies, and I read the first three books, but I can't claim to be a true HP fan! My sister is, so it's in the family I suppose. Your croc photo experience sounds both scary and amazing!

Demi - good morning to you too! Hopefully we will both get closer to our younger sisters in years to come. I hope your study goes well by the way 🙂

James, ahw, Grace and Dottie - I'm thinking of you too!

Today I need to be working on a uni assignment, so hopefully I'll get onto that this arvo. I ended up doing mainly emails, applications and forum stuff yesterday, which was still productive 🙂 The forum was the most enjoyable part, that's for sure!

Best wishes,

Zeal

Ah...memorising quotes. I could never do that well, haha. You're doing 2 extra units then?

Oh it's a lunch and then a wine and cheese night with another team at work. I think I'll go to the lunch, but I dunno about the wine and cheese night. I'm just not feeling like meeting new people today, haha. Just one of those days...

Nah I dropped Indonesian so I am currently doing 10 units (the minimum required to get an ATAR.) Yeah I know how you feel, sometimes it's just easier to stay home and not bother but I think going to lunch will be good! I hope you enjoy it nevertheless 🙂 Although the wine and cheese night does also sound quite nice.

It's nice to see the cafe so alive these days! 🙂

Hi Demi! Studying and memorising quotes... so much fun!! haha just kidding, but I hope your studying goes well 🙂 Congratulations on finishing 3 major works! Sometimes I wish I did a subject that required a major work. It seems quite stressful, but I like the idea of focusing on a topic which I'm interested in, and more generally having a bit more freedom in what sometimes feels like a very restrictive learning environment. I'd imagine it would also feel really good to look back on the finished product after all your hard work!

The subjects I do are quite different from yours - english, maths, economics, chemistry, and legal studies - but like you, I love to read and write. Both those things have always been my favourite things to do, as well as dance. I find writing especially to be enjoyable and a great emotional outlet. I used to draw a lot when I was younger, but not so much anymore. Recently I have been buying quite a lot of books because I get a bit overexcited every time I visit a book store and then buy a few books impulsively haha, so now I have a lot of books on my shelf which I haven't read yet, but I'm hoping to get around to them all after my hsc exams!

I'm also the middle child with two sisters, and I like being in the middle! I'm quite close to my older sister, as we're less than two years apart and have grown up playing together. Our personalities are very different, but compatible. However in general, I often like to keep to myself, and ever since I was young I've felt kind of out of place in both my family and friend groups, which creates a bit of emotional distance. My family and friends are very loving and supportive though, so I'm super grateful to have them!

Tara, I really like Harry Potter and have read all the books and watched all the movies 🙂 I hope you enjoy the last few days of your holidays!!

Zeal, Dottie, James - thank you so much for your kindness and support as well, and hope you've been enjoying your day! Good luck with uni assignments, work, or whatever else you've got to do 🙂

Hey Ahw 🙂

Yeah, I agree. It is quite lovely seeing the effort everyone is making to reply each day. Thank you, 3 major works was fairly stressful, and I do not recommend it unless you ARE focusing on topics you love and are driven by. You would think looking back on all the effort you have put in would be amazing but it honestly just feels a bit odd, going from spending about -10 hours a week painting for my art major alone, to handing it in knowing I can't touch it anymore was actually quite stressful. But I think they highlight was seeing my work in our school's exhibition, hung up for everyone to see; definitely made those late nights covered in paint worth it haha.

I really wanted to do legal studies but unfortunately it clashed with one of my other subjects 😞 haha I also have the bad habit of buying multiple books and never getting around to reading them. Like you, I hope that after HSC I find the time to gradually make my way through them all. What is your favourite book? Do you have a favourite author?

Ahh so you're also the cheeky middle child 😛 It is great, to have someone older to learn from and look up to, as well as providing some guidance to the often naughty younger sibling haha I am also a lot closer with my older sister and we are also 2 years apart! I'm sorry to hear you feel left out at times, but I am extremely grateful that your family is supportive of you despite your distance from them. I hope that overtime this distance lessens, and you are able to embrace your role as an equal member of the family with loving arms xx

Hi Demi,

I'm glad your parents were open to you having any kind of pet as long as you took care of them 😊 Well, I was rather limited in my choice of pets. The parameters that my parents set for pet ownership were they must be very small, don't make a mess and won't break or scratch things so that ruled out most animals ha, ha.

The flamingo rationale amused me too. Hmm...maybe I should try the balancing on one leg thing too😉

Glad work went well. Wow, go Demi! That must have been a challenge but I trust that you rose to the occasion.

Thanks, slowly getting through a gazillion journal articles for my biopsych assignment. Everything is in technical jargon so it's time consuming to read. In saying that, biopsych has surprisingly been one of my favourite psych units so far 😊

One of my other psych units this semester is developmental psych but it isn't really my cup of tea. I have a very nice lecturer for developmental but I have to admit that the content makes me yawn a bit ha, ha.

When we were given multiple topics to choose from for a developmental psych assignment, my friends were discussing which one they found the most interesting. But when they turned to me, I was like "um...none of them." In saying that, units are so subjective. I'm pretty sure Zeal loves developmental psych (and most of my psych friends love developmental too- I'm just the weird one ha, ha) so it's just down to personal preferences 😊

Hope you're making headway in your studies.

Dottie x
