Hey! Welcome to Friends Cafe.
This is a chill and chat space for young BB members to talk about anything and everything and make new friends.
When school's getting to you, uni or work has got you down, parents, partners, friends don't understand, and especially if you're feeling alone or lonely - come and relax awhile and talk to others who know just how you feel.
Our minds can cause us trouble, but they can also be amazing things that imagine beauty, love and fun. This cafe has everything you can imagine. To start with it's, well, a cafe. So there's chairs and tables, comfy couches for flopping, a big screen tele, unlimited download on computers for games, Spotify (or an old-school jukebox if you prefer), every movie you can think of on instant demand ... whatever you want, it's here. Post and tell us what'd you'd like.
Plus, there's an infinite menu of whatever food or drinks takes your fancy. And it's all free!
To kick it off, today we have a special range of Monster Milkshakes - those thick gooey shakes topped with cronuts, chocolate bars, cake, cookies ... whatever you want. And if you can get through one of them, you're a legend (and probably feeling a little bit sick LOL!)
Welcome friends.

Hi James,
That's a very useful degree! The only experience I have of economics is when I studied it in Year 11. The material covered in this school subject is probably summarised in a few weeks at uni! 😛 Congrats on completing your Honours year by the way 🙂

Hi Dottie,
Good on you for working hard to apply for psych Honours! I originally wanted to apply for Honours, but I have now decided to apply for postgrad counselling/psychotherapy for next year. I really dislike conducting and analysing research and doing statistical analyses, and the Honours pathway is rich with this kind of work. After talking to psychologists and hearing uni professors, it's clear that being a registered Psychologist involves being involved in research concurrently.
I am really glad you are applying for Psych Honours though. If I had any propensity for research, I would be keen. Hopefully this week has been going smoothly for you, and you can have some time to relax this weekend. Like you, I think psych is more interesting than commerce (even though I have never studied commerce at uni) 😛
Best wishes,
SM

Hi ahw,
Year 12 can be quite overwhelming! I'm very glad you have a good balance with schoolwork, time with friends, and other tasks. When you're feeling overwhelmed, talk to one of your parents when they're free. Parents can be an amazing source of emotional support. I feel that a lot of teenagers tend not to go to their parents as much, but I would seriously recommend it! Sometimes they know you almost as well as you know yourself! 😛 I guess I say that because I am close to my parents. At the same time, it is important to have other people to talk to as well. When I have things on my mind, I talk to my Mum, boyfriend or my best friend (though she lives interstate now).
Like Dottie said, it's understandable to feel a bit emotional and overwhelmed at the thought of finishing school. It really is the end of an era. However, uni can also be an exciting time in your life. If you keep in touch with some school friends, you'll probably reminisce about old times at school, and remember funny things that happened. My boyfriend is almost 25 and the group of friends we spend time with are most of his friends from high school, plus a few other people who came along later.
It's very normal to still be undecided about specific uni options. Like you said, just focus on finishing off Year 12 and then waiting for your results.
I hope you have a nice weekend 🙂
Best wishes,
SM

Hi SM,
Postgrad counselling/psychotherapy sounds very rewarding and interesting to study 😊 It's great that you looked into various career/study options and found your postgrad path. You'll learn so much in counselling/psychotherapy!
Thanks, I appreciate the encouragement 😊 Think the whole honours thing works differently from uni to uni. My degree is B.commerce/B.psych(hon) so for me, my fear is getting kicked out of the honours that's embedded in my degree ha, ha. Like if I don't keep my grades up, I will lose the honours and have to transfer to one of the non-honours psych degrees at my uni. Hence my constant stress.
Anyways, I hope you're enjoying your weekend. Hopefully you got to see your boyfriend 😊

Hi everyone,
And on another note, I highly recommend Melanie Martinez's Mrs Potatohead 😊 Amazing song especially the lyrics. But if you don't like it, that's okay as music is so subjective.

Hi Dottie,
Thanks - I am excited about postgrad counselling! My uni friend also needs to maintain her grades to stay in the Honours stream. As you said, it varies depending on the uni.
My weekend has been good so far. I had lunch with my boyfriend, his sister (also my friend) and another friend yesterday. We had yummy ramen noodle bowls at a little Japanese place. This morning I had brunch at a café with my Grandparents, two Grand-Aunties (Grandma's sisters), and my younger cousin and her boyfriend. My parents are skiing interstate at the moment, so they couldn't be with us, and my younger sister had a work shift. I have been doing some uni stuff this arvo.
I hope your weekend is going well Dottie 🙂 And to everyone else, I hope the weekend has been relaxing or productive...or both 😛
Best wishes,
SM

Hello again everyone!
Hello ahw! I am not in year 12 yet, but I have friends who are, so I know a bit about the workload and how stressful it is. Sounds like you especially have a lot on your plate, so I hope you manage to keep everything under control! Just remember to have some 'me time'. Maybe before bed do some mindfulness, have a nice bath, or just treat yourself to something during the day. Might just help to keep you sane during the chaos of Year 12! Good luck with everything!
Thanks SM, I can assure you I am definitely not looking forward to them! 0_0
Dottie! I LOVE Melanie Martinez!!!!! She's amazing!!! My favourites would be Mrs Potato Head, and Pity Party I think 🙂

Hi Dottie, dark unicorn, ahw, James and other friends
I hope everyone is doing well also 🙂 I went to the postgrad info session for counselling last night, and it is definitely what I want to do next year!
I've only tried fried ice cream once before Dottie, and I thought it was nice 🙂 I hope your day is going well!
