Hey! Welcome to Friends Cafe.

This is a chill and chat space for young BB members to talk about anything and everything and make new friends.

When school's getting to you, uni or work has got you down, parents, partners, friends don't understand, and especially if you're feeling alone or lonely - come and relax awhile and talk to others who know just how you feel.

Our minds can cause us trouble, but they can also be amazing things that imagine beauty, love and fun. This cafe has everything you can imagine. To start with it's, well, a cafe. So there's chairs and tables, comfy couches for flopping, a big screen tele, unlimited download on computers for games, Spotify (or an old-school jukebox if you prefer), every movie you can think of on instant demand ... whatever you want, it's here. Post and tell us what'd you'd like.

Plus, there's an infinite menu of whatever food or drinks takes your fancy. And it's all free!

To kick it off, today we have a special range of Monster Milkshakes - those thick gooey shakes topped with cronuts, chocolate bars, cake, cookies ... whatever you want. And if you can get through one of them, you're a legend (and probably feeling a little bit sick LOL!)

Welcome friends.

Hey ahw,

I did have a good first day back at uni, though this was partly because I stayed in and watched my first lecture online! Good luck with your trials! I know what you mean about the nervous energy- that affected me too in Year 12. It helps to not ask around about how others are studying or performing, and related questions. I had friends who would over-discuss study and performance in Year 12, and I think that can be really unhelpful.

I'm glad you're optimistic and excited about your last weeks of high school with your friends - that's what you'll remember in years to come.

Best wishes,

SM

Hey Grace,

Congrats on your new job as a private tutor! That's a really great position to have.

It was really cold and windy where I live too yesterday, and I am keen for the weather to be a bit milder. Today it hasn't really rained, and there's a bit of sunshine at points 🙂

Live by chap sticks and lip balms! I swear by the Nivea Essential lip balms.

I hope you're having a really good week! 🙂

All the best,

SM

Hi SM

Thank you for the kind words, and lip balm is the smartest suggestion. I hope the weather will be a bit warmer too because I haven't been to a beach in over a year. How's life going?

With Love,

Grace xx

Hey!!

Congratulations Grace on the change of job, that's awesome 🙂 I usually like winter too, but the dryness is pretty annoying! Lip balms are my life haha 🙂 Hope you've been well and have been enjoying school and whatever else you've been up to!!

Thank you so much for your words and advice SM, and glad to hear uni is off to a pretty good start hahaha! I actually have tried to avoid talking about studying and our assessments with other people like you suggested, unless I am asking for some help, and have tried talking about other random silly fun life things 🙂 It's really helped to just focus on how much work I can do in my own circumstances, and not comparing the amount of preparation I've done with my how much my friends have done! I've also tried to stop stressing about how unproductive I've been in the past, and focus on the present - what I can do with the time I have to try and do as well as I can!

I am feeling lifted and grateful today, which is nice, after I had a bad break down yesterday overwhelmed by various negative emotions towards myself. Hopefully this good mood means I'll be motivated to get a bit of work done 🙂

Hope you have both been going ok, anything interesting happening?

Hi Grace,

Life has been pretty good for me lately. The first week back at uni has gone smoothly. This weekend I am catching up with an interstate friend who I haven't seen in over a year, so it'll be nice to see him again 🙂 There isn't much else to report really!

Today I went for a walk in the sun, which was nice.

Best wishes,

Hi ahw,

I'm glad you are taking an outlook that allows you to focus on the present, and what you personally are able to achieve. Being kind to yourself is so important!

Nothing of particular interest is happening for me at the moment. During the uni break though my boyfriend, two friends and I bought tickets for Japan in January. I've never been to Japan, so I'm excited. I have also never travelled without my family before, so this will be a new experience 🙂

Have a great weekend ahw! And you too Grace 🙂

Best wishes,

Hi, I hope everyone is well!

I just came in and noticed Grace's lovely new display picture!! So nice 🙂

Scared, anxious and tired today, and have barely left my bed throughout the day so far. And I have an exam tomorrow which I haven't prepared for! So I decided to come here. I might watch a movie to take my mind off things for a little while, then hopefully I'll find the motivation to do even a little bit of revision. Even just a little would probably be really good, as these tests are pretty important! If anyone is around, any suggestions for a good movie? 🙂

Hi ahw,

I agree - Grace's new display image is beautiful!

I'm sorry to hear that you're stressed and anxious. For a pick-me-up, feel-good funny movie, I recommend Dan In Real Life.

I hope you are able to look over some notes tonight. Make sure you go to bed in good time though, even if you haven't finished studying. Without enough sleep, you'll be too tired to apply your knowledge well and are more likely to forget the things you do know.

Good luck for the exam! Just think about how you'll feel once it's over 🙂

Best wishes,

SM
