Dear Sir Croix and all your fans,

When Deebs said she thought of you when she saw poles with metal rings on, I imagined it was because she had been near a jetty and seen pylons (I think they have metal bands?) and imagined a walrus having a sunbake on the wharf.

I'm a bit behind on the convo, but when Moon said she threw her hat in the ring and you asked "what hat?" I felt sure the answer should have been her Bowler Hat?

I had a pleasant experience with that book site I mentioned, world of books. One of the books I had ordered was not available in their australian stockpile, so they sent it from their London warehouse and it was still free postage! It was one of the sequels to How Green Was My Valley, and it's in perfect condition, looks brand new and is a 1960 edition.

I liked hearing about your new evening walk routine. It's nice to change things up occasionally. Mrs Birdy and I have recently been going for an evening swim in the ocean - it has changed the whole feel of the afternoon and nighttime. Refreshing.

No unfortunately I haven’t gotten my liquor chocolates yet.....I will definitely buy them when I leave this hospital if that ever happens....Have you tried them from big W...So yummy....I wish I could buy a box or two and we all could meet for a chocolate morning tea..😅😂..We could get tipsy eating the liquor chocolate....The best two things in the world combined into one....Chocolate and good friends.....What more could one ask for?...

Please Croixy, take good care of you the best you can..and Mrs Croix you also take good care of you.....

Hey Croix...just reassuring you my pet is back with me and seems to have been very well cared for. I think he is glad to see me and settled back...didn't think I would miss him so much. You remember how devastated I have been for years now...about the mysterious cruel disappearance of my long time companion before him?....I have to admit I've hardly thought much about him since getting this new little guy...too focused on caring for the pet that's here....I was in a bad way, the grieving would not stop.

Does this mean I am being disloyal to my first dearly loved companion? that I have virtually stopped looking and hoping? I thought I would never give up on finding him....have I let him down?

Dear Moon~

At some point most of us have to stop the intense grieving and look at life with more focused eyes. It does not mean our love is any the less, just we have expanded to love another as well.

That's how it should be. As an example my first wife, who sadly had plenty of time to mull things over, wanted me to find another, which when she passed away I did. This did not mean I loved my first wife less, just I came to love another too. As tie went on my thoughts of my first wife became less frequent -and happier.

It by some unlikely quirk of fate your original pet reappeared you would be overjoyed, despite any practical difficulties. You are the same inside as you have always been.

You have not let your first pet down, it is a tribute to the relationship you had you wish to repeat the experience, now you have another to rejoice with, that's all.

Dear Grandy,~

I hope you are managing, being home has lots of challenges, though I'm sure the fur babies will help a lot.

Ta for the hug and bouquet, I had no idea the hand was green, I certainly don't have a green thumb. I have as much gardener in me as Wal Footrot who prunes Auntie Dolly's roses with a chainsaw.

To answer your question from the other thread it was a fresh-water lake in the middle of the South Island. You got there by a big launch then transferred to the little boats on arrival. The only swimming involved was if you did not make that transfer properly:)

I've no idea how deep the water was, it was still black and cold right inside the cave system and frankly both my partner and I were too transfixed by the sight to even think of swimming or anything else.

It's funny how one can be very glad it happened, and sad it finished and probably will not be repeated, an indelible memory anyway.

I agree being at home has challenges, some days I’m good, others not so good and at times I’m trying to survive until the next day....My grass needs a mow, it’s a nice cool day to do it...but it’s Sunday..it’s a no no out here to cut grass or be noisey on Sunday...If I started my mower up the whole village would hear it..there’s only 4 streets in the village I live in..so Today my anxiety is high because I’m not allowed to do something I want and needs to do today.....Next week will probably be to hot again to mow...

I remember Footrots Flats...it was a comic strip in the Sunday Mirror...it was when I was a child I have forgotten what I have read...but do remember the characters so very well...

I love a colourful flowers etc, but dislike the weeding I was really enthusiastic when I bought this place, made a nice little garden...it looked good, then came the weeding..I tried but couldn’t keep on top of it.. my back gets to sore (arthritis)...to weed plus it’s a job I don’t like, plus the drought, my garden has a few geraniums left, and some succulents..They seem to be hardy and survived the frost and drought...

Sounds very cold, I hope no one ever took a swim while transferring boats...It would be a really special and beautiful memory to bring to the surface occasionally....I like caves...but cannot go into them comfortably...without fear of them collapsing..silly I know...

One more question if it’s okay, New Zealand have a warbirds air show I think every 2nd year.have you ever been to one...I like the sound and look of the spitfire mk2..and the mustang p51d..is awesome..

Well, if it does get hot the grass will slow down it's growth, and if not maybe you can mow during the week. You must have rather strict neighbors. I regularly mow on a Sunday, but don't start till 10.00am.

Weeding -yuck.

I really liked Footrot Flats and have all the comic strip books. When I went to NZ I looked for the place, or Raupo (the nearest town where Cheeky Hobson has La Parisienne Hairdressing Salon in Te Kooti Street. Sadly all fiction:)

I've no idea about warbirds I'm afraid, I'm sure DB would know with her knowledge of the Island of the Long White Cloud.

I read the account of flying the Spitfire by one of the youngest pilots of the RAF in WW2, his name was Geoffrey Wellum and the book was called First Light, an amazing and human tale of a very young man who had to deal with war, and survives.

I don't have an emoji of a Spitfire or Mustang, will a Vespa do🛵?
