Can't beat Les Crane's version of Desiderata can you? I've had some kind of poster, somewhere, wherever I've been living since I was about 19 when I heard it first.

I first read it in a Readers Digest publication aged about 15.....then, at 19, on an escalator in a big department store in our capital city (I'd just moved there and scared and lonely)....I heard these familiar words coming over the store's system...seemed meant just for me, just at that time..."You have right to be here".......magic!

Hello Me Croix and all..

My music knowledge is basically non existent compared to the lovely people here...I do like to listen to classical though..it’s relaxing following one instrument throughout the masterpiece...,I’m more of a late 50s to early 70s gal...blues rock..mainly and jazz...which reminds me Deebi you forgot also one of my favourite instruments.. 🎸 plugged into a massive amp..Its an awesome sound...I’m trying to Eric Clapton to join us on Croixy’s iceberg with us....

Desiderata, is a very beautiful and powerful piece of music. 🎶...I’ve been practicing the guitar 🎸 and drum 🥁 for our debut performance when we’re good enough....oops my singing broke a piece of your iceberg off...wait a sec... 💼..not long now...I’ll find it...ahh..here it is..super glue...I’ll glue it back on for you..don’t want you sliding off now do we...😁...

I hope your doing better then okay dear sir....and sumo cat looks wonderfully cute in his ninja outfit....

Dear Moon, Db, Grandy and all~

I'm glad you all seem to feel as I do about the Desiderata, it really has had a calming influence on me and values I can very much relate to. I blush to say it but have never heard it sung, must look that up too.

Thanks Moon:, in looking for your particular song I found the whole Albert Hall concert, and am working my way though it.

Grandy: That's my era too, I have a 4 LP album set called Tour of Duty which had an awful lot of my favorites on it. I was in that sort of era - plus classical. then l came to the Forum and listened to what other people liked so now I'm all over the place, from IAMX's Happiness to Tom Waits' Gods away on Business. I'm enjoying it. Ta for the wardrobe BTW. Sumo is asleep at the moment so will not try it on just yet.

DB: I'm wondering if earplugs used for chain saws and heavy machinery will be adequate. If the band is so penetrating my iceberg starts to shatter we will all be in the drink. Have you considered using Marcel Marceau's Sounds of Silence as a signature tune?

Sadly not walking last few days but will get back to it by the weekend with luck

Dear Croix.....nice to hear from you again. Les Crane recites, not sings Desiderata, with a couple of lines "you are a child....." etc sung by a chorus....Kamahl also does a nice version.

re Albert Hall tribute ....I find it a fabulous tool for "psyching myself up", getting in the zone prior to a big bowls tournament...gets the adrenalin going, for me anyway...whatever it takes. My esp favourite is that one by Michael Ball.

the neighbours probably think "Oh there she goes again, must be playing bowls tonight".....(LOL)

If you don't mind could you please tell me Elizabeth CPs' thread name. I thought I tagged it but haven't been able to find it, she's very stressed and for a long time I've wanted to support her. She's close to giving up on her thread cause no or not many replies. She's a great contributor so I'd like to get there and I'm fairly sure I saw you there unless I dreamt I tagged it dunno 🙃

I hope you've been ok to walk as you were hoping in the w/e.

Oh while I think of it wondering if this might help you building up muscle. They're pedals that sit on the ground in front of your seat and you use them like a tinsy bike if I'm making any sense. Just the pedals.

I happen to adore one of the Everlys later songs, On the Wings Of A Nightingale...written curiously enough by Paul McCartney....It had special romantic connections for me..whenever I heard it, I recalled times in a plane, flying into a city and thinking...'if someone granted me a wish, that I could choose any man in the whole world to be waiting for me at the airport when we land...I'd pass.." because "he"was already waiting at the other end..he was my first choice.

"High above land and sea, I'll be thinking of you and me...couldn't ask for a better place to be..." "when I love, I get the feeling that I'm travelling through the skies, on the wings of a nightingale"....oh makes me so sentimental.. (but yes, the earlier ones of theirs were a bit early for me...I was only a little kid)..

Moon Kamahl has an incredible voice re Desiderata. I heard it first and it had such a major impact I prefer Les Cranes version. Be the other way around if I heard Kamahl first ☺

DB: Forums / Long term support over the journey / Feeling down due to fatigue & undiagnosed health issues

I do do exercises as set out by my physio but pedaling is not one of them. Maybe I should listen to Mungo Jerry's " Push Bike Song "

Moon: I'm sure you were not even a twinkle in your father's eye of in those days, not a kid. Seriously I'm glad it made you think of that song that carries such sentiment for you. I prefer their A Whiter Shade of Pale, but that is becuse I liked the song anyway.

Mary: my humble apologies, in my defense I was blinded by a surfeit of icons (now I wonder where that came from:) and did not notice your post. I too listened to ABC FM, particularly when Emma/Eddie Ayres was the host, now sadly replaced. If asked what composer I'd vote for I think at the moment it must be Michel Jean Legrand, particularly his works in movies such as The Thomas Crown Affair. (Yes I know, not Australian at all:)
