Crikeys, I need an interpreter here lol!
Clams?
I didn't know walruses ate clams. Or do walruses make castanets out of them.
In PLAIN English, we have a dog who wants to eat the cat AND the possums on the balcony for their nightly feed, then the kids forgetting to close the door, so the dog gallops on to the balcony with ear splitting BARKING, then the neighbour starts swearing and yelling so I laugh lol!
Fine for the neighbour to fight and carry on, till well after midnight, with his partner (whom I felt sorry for the moment I met HIM)... I think she's getting her ducks in a row anyhow, so that's a GREAT THING!
All is WELL In my world LOL!
Except for the mozzies!
Love EMxxxx

Hi Croix & EM.
EM, I don't know for sure, if you can still see one or two clams in the bottom portion of Croix's picture. The picture relates to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll.
I told the clams, if they must continue kibbitzing, would they please get cracking on a clam to human translation machine. It's only polite, if their comments are useful advice, to be able to understand what & when they give such helpful hints.
& ... what? Mozzies on an iceberg? Let me be the first to say, "I didn't do it!"
Would a couple flyswatters help, Croix? I will knit them immediately.
Here's a thought: Futsal, 'The Inebriated Kiwis' against 'The Partying Penguins'? Wonder who'd win?
Hmm, here at Croix's iceberg, it would have to be ice futsal... [LRC zooms around, enjoying the lengthening days, especially since switching to daylight saving time]

Dear All~
Thinking back on what I said "Where have all my clams gone?" reminded me of hearing Marlene Dietrich singing the poignant anti-war song "Where have all the flowers gone"
Bit of a change of mood 😞
-C (Yes you can still see the clams)

Ha! I thought of that song, too - but I think I have Peter Paul & Mary in my head, instead.
Yes, certainly stirs up some thoughts & feelings. One of many songs we could sadly, be singing today; their purpose & meaning just as relevant as when they were first written.

Dear Tealflowers and Moonstruck -I hope you are traveling ok
Dear MK,as I understand it young women used to put flowers on the unmarked graves of thier loves killed in actkion, but over time those flowers withered and were blown away. I thiink this applies to all countries in the world
A quote for Moon:
"Some things are more precious because they don’t last long"

I've never heard of that quote Croix...who said it? Its thought provoking...do you agree with its message? I am still alive. Not liking this getting old thing at all thanks very much! I can think of pluses whatsover about it...none, zip, zero! My body is letting my mind down and my heart is heavy due to the past and present 'losses" I've dealt with in my life. Sick of losing things Croix! Nothing ever lasts. Are you sure that's a good thing?
I am so very busy organising presents for my family to take away with me...getting closer now. having trouble sleeping now so look like a monster in the mornings...old, wrinkled, crepey, revolting, tired, miserable old crone!!
Oh sleep, steal me awhile from mine own company!!!
Did I tell you I still do that bit of work for my former boss and it can get rather busy when it comes around. at least I get a break in between. But it's something I can still do well....it's using the mind, not physical you see, and my mind still seems okay. Wish me a good trip please Croix, that my cat survives the separation and the weather co operates. Never seen it so unpredictable and erratic, not here in hot humid old Queensland. Even up here it has gone beserk alternating between hot, cool, then chilly, then perfect, then drizzly, then rain and thunder.....what on earth has happened to our world Croix? Wisdom please, answers please!!! xx

Dear Moon,
It was O.W. in "The picture of Dorian Grey". As I quoted it I was thinking of grandchildren and how fast they grow to adulthood. I guess it could apply to life too, or a bowling season that only has a short run. Each successful movement can be highlighted and savored.
I agree about the physical process of aging, but there are compensations, wisdom to apply to situations, a store of knowledge acquired over a lifetime (Think how many bowling maneuvers you now know by heart).
As for that morning mirror, you know perfectly well:
"A man's face is his autobiography. A woman's face is her work of fiction."
I'm sure you are gong to have a most excellent visit, children are there to be spoiled (much to their parent's disgust). If the weather becomes a nuisance I'm certain you will cope.
I'm sure your cat will not be best pleased to be away from the sumptuous luxuries of the Moon household, but that simply makes the reunion better. From then on it will know on which side its mouse is buttered!
I"m glad you are still doing a bit of work, it keeps the mind on the go and helps to be appreciated.
Any tournaments on the horizon?

Dear Moon. You sure are struggling to find a light side to anything, positives to anything. Maybe Croix's quote works for the day or two (very short) lovely sunny days, like yesterday, when I was out in the park on the elliptical cross trainer again. My enjoyment was short-lived, but heck yes, I appreciate it. I'm not sure why, but I was wobbly when I got off the machine - never had that feeling before, & it was harder to do the exercise, too, also unlike previous times. I don't know what was wrong. & my legs hurt very much today. But while I was on it, & my carer was trying to encourage me, & there was a bird singing, someone was walking a dog, under the brilliant blue sky, with a light breeze, around 24° - I cannot complain about this! There is so much more that could be wrong... so much.
Sometimes we do have to stretch our minds to think of the ways our lives are maybe, not so bad.
Like I've been thinking: I might complain about the supermarket sending me a lettuce big as my head, but hey, at least I am getting letuce! I can get food so easily, really I can, & make myself three meals a day, & snacks too if I want... sure it cost some more money now, but food is available.
It might even scare me to have to walk to the supermarket to get food, but guess what, at least there is a supermarket so close, & I really could do if I really pushed myself to do it.
One of my habitual sayings is 'it could be worse', & I'm pretty good at thinking exactly how things could be worse.
My body's failing me too, & some things are getting worse. Some things, though, I'm still thinking, maybe I can do something to at least slow down or even, (I'm nervously imagining) possible to improve. I don't want to give in to thinking my old age is of inevitable decline, into decrepitude.
I dread the idea of being in some nursing home (don't know who'd pay for it), in a tiny room - no room at all for my desk, or my own exercise machine (still working on that), & one window & people deciding when I eat, bathe, go anywhere, & all that.
I took so much for granted when I was young; didn't notice or appreciate anything. Now as I fear losing more & more, I'm mor often appreciating what I have, even as I complain about it.
Some precious things, like the few minutes I might get feeling my body is not bothering me so much that I can sit & write this, I really appreciate! I'm happily surprised tonight.

Dear mmMekitty~
I have to ask, what is an "elliptical cross trainer"? It sounds like an overweight grumpy coach.
I do remember from years ago road signs saying "The aged cross here" and wondered to myself -"So what's annoying them here?"

Croix, an elliptical cross trainer in an exercise machine, which has large foot pads & more or less upright hand grips, so when each foot is on a foot pad, & the hands ar gripping the odd looking poles, & the person on the machine starts to move the their arms & legs, sort of like when walking fast, swinging the arms higher than usual, & the machine provides a pre-set level of resistance, to challenge the user. It is a good machine for increasing aerobic & strength fitness. Some top-end models allow for an incline, to similate stairs or hill climbing.
Now I have tried to explain it, don't you think googling would have been a more sensible thing to do? You could have seen pictures of some. There might even be videos, for all I know.
The machine the city council has provided in some council parks, is a basic, manual only machine. Those on the commertial market all seem to be electronic. Some even have work-out sessions the user can initiate according to their fitness level. They got blu tooth for iphones, video to watch or to listen to music while exercising.
Those kinds of bell & whistles don't interest me much, but it's going to be hard to find one I can use the settings on, as my fitness improves. Of-course I want one to be useful for many years, so I would like one to take me from my basement level fitness to the highest level, like when I feel strong & able to virtually run on the thing.
*
As for 'aged cross here', that sounds like a joke for 'Worst Joke Wednesday', but then I think, have you noticed how many disabled toilets there are around the place? & why doesn't anyone fix them?
