BeyondBlue Theme Song

So, I've been going through a bit of a time lately, and I've been focused on that misery so much. Coming back on these forums was definitely a good idea, where you can be heard and listen to others, I can't explain what it means to me.

Anyway, I thought I would start a lighter thread, just to be a little less focused on misery I guess. I was on a run (or for what passes as a run for me), and I was thinking, what phrases or bits of songs that could pass for a theme song for BeyondBlue, in relation to how they/you helped me.

I came up with the following:

Charlie Puth; One Call away: "I'm only one call away. I'll be here to save the day. Superman got nothin' on me. I'm only one call away..."

Rudimental; Lay It All On Me: "All alone as you look through the door, nothing left to see. If it hurts and you can't take no more, lay it all on me. No you don't have to keep it under lock and key..."

Lupe Fiasco; The Show Goes On: "So no matter what you been through, no matter what you into, no matter what you see when you look outside your window. Brown grass or green grass, picket fence or barbed wire, never ever put them down you just lift your arms higher. Raise 'em 'til your arms tired, let em' know you're there, that you struggling, survivin' that you gonna persevere yeah. Ain't no body leavin', no body goin' home, even if they turn the lights out the show is goin' on."

Eminem; Not Afraid: "I'm not afraid (I'm not afraid) to take a stand (to take a stand). Everybody (everybody), come take my hand (come take my hand). We'll walk this road together, through the storm, whatever weather, cold or warm. Just letting you know that you're not alone. Holler if you feel like you've been down the same road."

Sara Bareilles; Brave: "Maybe there's a way out of the cage where you live. Maybe one of these days you can let the light in. Show me how big your brave is. Say what you wanna say And let the words fall out. Honestly, I wanna see you be brave with what you want to say and let the words fall out. Honestly I wanna see you be brave."

These are just a few. Music lets me feel a lot of what I'm already feeling, but also gives me a safe outlet for it. What do you think? Any suggestions?

I hope this isn't a stupid idea...

And then there's the poet of my life, Jimmy Barnes: No second prize

I heard about a person who had a broken heart

With nothing to drive him on, no hope no spark no flame

He couldn't see at all, tears they were blinding him

He kept it all inside, the guilt and all the pain

You know I say I tried to warn him

They had him backed up against the wall

I hope I'm not too late

No one can tell you exactly what you have gotta be

You got to stand your ground and fight to save your life

It may be hard but ooh ooh it's the only way

Always remembering there ain't no second prize

There ain't no second prize

Nice songs Kaz, nice words.

Bill Withers; Lean on me: "Lean on me when you're not strong and I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on.
For it won't be long 'til I'm gonna need somebody to lean on...You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand, we all need somebody to lean on. I just might have a problem that you'll understand, we all need somebody to lean on. If there is a load you have to bear that you can't carry. I'm right up the road, I'll share your load if you just call me..."

Petula Clark - Downtown

When you're alone, and life is making you lonely
You can always go downtown
When you've got worries, all the noise and the hurry
Seems to help, I know - downtown

Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty
How can you lose?

The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares

So go downtown; things'll be great when you're
Downtown; no finer place for sure
Downtown everything's waiting for you

Don't hang around and let your problems surround you There are movie shows downtown

Maybe you know some little places to go to
Where they never close, downtown
Just listen to the rhythm of a gentle bossa nova
You'll be dancing with him too before the night is over
Happy again ..

The lights are much brighter there You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares

So go downtown, where all the lights are bright
Downtown - waiting for you tonight
Downtown - you're gonna be all right now

And you may find somebody kind to help and understand you
Someone who is just like you and needs a gentle hand to guide them along

So maybe I'll see you there
We can forget all our troubles, forget all our cares
So go downtown; things'll be great when you're
Downtown; don't wait a minute for
Downtown; everything's waiting for you

Great song Sherie!

Another of mine's a little less boppy. (Much better as a poem than a song really). Leonard Cohen, Anthem

The birds they sang at the break of day

Start again I heard them say

Don't dwell on what has passed away or what is yet to be.

Ah the wars they will be fought again

The holy dove she will be caught again

Bought and sold and bought again

The dove is never free.

Ring the bells that still can ring

Forget your perfect offering

There is a crack in everything

That's how the light gets in.

One of my favourite singers is John Denver. here's his "Looking for Space"

On the road of experience,
I'm trying to find my own way.
Sometimes I wish that I could fly away
When I think that I'm moving,
suddenly things stand still
I'm afraid 'cause I think they always will

And I'm looking for space
And to find out who I am
And I'm looking to know and understand
It's a sweet, sweet dream
Sometimes I'm almost there
Sometimes I fly like an eagle
And sometimes I'm deep in despair

All alone in the universe,
sometimes that's how it seems
I get lost in the sadness and the screams
Then I look in the centre,
suddenly everything's clear
I find myself in the sunshine and my dreams

Hey! Can't believe no-one (including me) has thought of this one yet!

When you're weary, feeling small

When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all

I'm on your side, oooh when times get rough

And friends just can't be found

Like a bridge over troubled waters

I will lay me down

Like a bridge over troubled waters

I will lay me down ...

Thank you Simon and Garfunkel!

(Damn hard to sing though. Makes water come out my eyes and my throat choke)

My music references are usually met with a blank stare, but here goes... Coldrain, We're Not Alone. (It's kinda screamy/emo, and it's here, if you're curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCUpGVRGoIg):

"Sunlight was the only thing that felt right before I came here
But inside it feels like it keeps raining
And every drop is like the tears we couldn't cry
Because inside we were all alone
But this place gave us something, it somehow made us strong

If there's a place inside this world
Where hopes and dreams are not yet lost
We'll stand and fight against these walls
We'll fight this fight forevermore

Sometimes I feel this anger changing slowly into
A monster that keeps on creeping under
And I don't think that I can take anymore
I need you here like never before
But can you hear me call?

If there's a place inside this world
Where hopes and dreams are not yet lost
We'll stand and fight against these walls
We'll fight this fight forevermore
If there's a place inside this world
Where we must go back to once more
Until the day we find that place
We're not alone

When things go bad
When things go wrong
When on the verge of letting go
There's something that I really want you to know

When things go bad
When things go wrong
When on the verge of letting go
There's something that I really want you to know

You're not alone
No you're not alone anymore
You're not alone
No you're not alone anymore

If there's a place inside this world
Where hopes and dreams are not yet lost
We'll stand and fight against these walls
We'll fight this fight forevermore
If there's a place inside this world
Where we must go back to once more
Until the day we find that place
We're not alone
We're not alone

When things go bad
When things go wrong
When on the verge of letting go
There's something that I really want you to know..."
