Worrying at night and cannot sleep

Hi all

My first time doing this but wanted help with dealing with night time worries which I cannot switch off and then means I cannot sleep.  Any ideas will be welcome.

I have a fair amount on my plate like a lot of people including being a carer for 2 family members both of whom I live with and love very much.

But still find it all a lot at times and I need to deal with the NDIS which is an ongoing burden which I cannot say is easy.

I Have also retired recently after a fulfilling 42 year career so finding that a bit difficult as well.

Any how I hope someone can make a helpful comment or idea.

Look forward to the discussions.

thankyou

Pat

Dear new member

Retirement by itself is often  pretty big hurdle to get over, and having the worries about your family AND

NDIS is more than enough for anyone.

The Victorian Goverment's Betterhealth site has a fair number of hints that may help

https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/conditionsandtreatments/sleep-hygiene

If these are of no use hen I'd suggest seeing your GP and discussing the matter.

In my own case I try getting up for a cuppa and trying again, or if the thoghts are too strong I use a free smartphone app called Smiling Mind to take my thoughts out of a loop of worry and lreave me in a calmer state. I'll then use that state to read until I feel sleepy.

Smiling Mind is surprisingly effective but does take practice, you cannot expect it to work first time. It does have a very large number of exercises to suit just about everyone, including even one for me who has the appellation span of a gnat.

If you would like ot k=let us know how you go that would be great
