Hello,
I’m a 37 year old mother of two beautiful boys. I have a beautiful husband and a beautiful home. But I’m horribly depressed. I’ve taken antidepressants for years but every once in a while I have a week or so of feeling so sad. Usually it doesn’t last long, but this time I’m almost hitting a month of waking up in tears. Having no motivation and little interest in anything.
im hoping someone can empathise and give me some pointers - or should I be visiting my GP to change up my AD’s?
thanks x

Hi there
Welcome to the forums, Kaycam. I'm sorry you're experiencing a prolonged bout of depression, I can definitely empathise with you there. It seems to run it's own course, but it's good that you acknowledge it usually hangs around for a time, before it goes again. I think that makes it easier to sit with, when we know that eventually it will move on. In the meantime, it's pretty gross though, yeah? So maybe worth a chat to your gp to see whether it's worth an adjustment of your meds.
I wonder if there's anything that you do find helpful or you do take pleasure in, during these times?
Feel free to chat more. There's plenty of like-minded people here.
Katy

Hi Kaycam,
Sorry you are feeling this way.......
Allow your self to feel the emotions and then try to let them go........
Try to put your attention on something you enjoy doing 😊 go for a walk feel the sun on you..... what can you hear? What can you smell ?
Try to practice gratefulness....
I think a visit to your gp would be a good idea 😊

Hi mate, I truly feel for you. The feelings of thing not being better the next day after a while becomes disheartening.
With that said, I always remind myself of Newton's 3rd law, Every action in nature has an equal and opposite reaction. What I believe is that for every day you feel down, you need to remind yourself that sometime very soon, you will wake up with a new spring in your step and a smile from ear to ear.
It gets hard to remind ourselves of the positive thought patterns when things seem dark and this is why I like to leave myself little mental bookmarks when I feel good. For example, If I finish the yard work and I have a good sense of self accomplishment I will look over the yard for a minute to take it that feeling, so next time I feel useless I can look at that yard, even when not freshly mowed and reflect on how good things feel when my head is clear.
I'm always here if you need to talk.
