The world behind my eyes

First time posting.

I've always been a nervous person, a mind that over thinks and stirs.

Some of these can include:

1. Feeling in a constant fight/flight mode. My limbs feel as light as a feather and yet too heavy to move.

2. I stir on things to the point I get headaches

3. When people are walking towards me from the opposite side of the street I feel uneasy, as if I'm being shared at. I get more anxious about our crossing paths to the point of holding my breathe as I pass them, seemingly calm on the outside.

4. I feel physically sick at the thought of things, going to work being one of them.

5. I have to do things early, if I don't have my things done by 12, I can't do them until another day. If I have plans in the afternoon, I can't do a thing until that event.

6. I stand still but feel as if I'm shaking inside.

I'm 34 and I feel the older I get the worse this becomes. I obtained a mental health plan from my GP and saw a psychologist for the first time on Friday. I'm not sure what will come of it. I don't know if I'm going for help or to unload/share my story. Anyways, I come across this forum and thought I might share...

Hi Detox, welcome to the forum. It's really nice that you have reached out and are starting to get help.

It's great that you have already gone to a GP and a psychologist, that can sometimes be the hardest first step to take. It sounds like you're on the right track.

It also sounds like you experience a lot of physical symptoms which can be quite difficult at times to deal with. A fair few of them I relate to, 2, 4 and 5 in particular. Seeing a psychologist is the best way to work these areas so I'd really encourage you to stick with them. And as always, if you need someone to talk to we're always here to help 🙂

Hi Socialmoth

Thanks for your response. It's been a challenge to manage, with the physical symptoms a more recent development.

The next appointment is set, and I hope to talk through it all over my sessions, something I rarely do

Hi Detox

What you have described sounds awful and it sounds like your making positive steps to improve your headspace.

The ticket to therapy being effective js to build repor. Don't feel like you can't ask them questions aswell and above all else keep an open mind.

A problem without a solution in sight can't have solution kept from sight.

I can relate at the idea of things makes you feel sick and uneasy. This is a habit I discovered I needed, and still need to challenge. Every time you talk yourself out of doing something you build on the fear of it. Start small mate, then when your there start crossing off the things you worried about till you get to that shining point where you realise while you may still feel uneasy, all the negative situations you dreamed up are irrational. This is something I still struggle with but am doing my best to resolve.

Always here if you need a chat.
