I had a major anxiety attack last weekend. Cried for 3 days. Got some respite at my parents place but I'm sleepless.
It's only been 2 nights with no sleep but I feel like a zombie. Tried sedatives but they aren't working. I can't sit still. Body is exhausted, mind is in another dimension of space and time.
Tried meditation - distracted, tried other distraction like cleaning, reading, watching a movie, went for a walk. Tried laying on the bed and hoping for a sleep. Nothing.
I look like crud, I feel cruddier.
Tips, tricks, anything???

Hi Baron sherry, I'm sorry to hear how you are feeling.
Apart from seeing a doctor I would suggest sticking at meditation. Distraction is par for the course and the more you work at it the less you will feel distracted, it is the distractions of the busy mind that can cleared with meditation eventually. If I am having trouble getting to sleep I sometimes go on a journey in my imagination, an elaborate story with no end, my travels usually include flying for some reason!
All the best.

Hi Baron Sherry
I have had trouble sleeping in the past where my mind was running on overdrive all night with everything that I had to get done at work, home etc. I dont really have a simple solution sorry - the best thing for me is to clear the clutter from my sleep space and have a good sleep time routine -don't eat a couple of hours before bed, be in a quiet dark room, have a relaxing shower or bath before bed, brush teeth etc. perhaps some herbal tea like Chamomile (if you are into that) would help. Another thing that would help me sometimes is I had a hypnosis app that I would listen to and follow the instructions to try and relax and take my mind of everything. Exhausting myself physically (a couple of hours before bed) would also help sometimes. I hope you start to get some more sleep and feel better soon. I was just wondering if you have actually been diagnosed with anxiety and talked to your GP about how you are currently feeling? They may be able to assist you with this. Good luck😊

Hello Baron Sherry,
I hope very much that you have been able to sleep and get some rest. I too have just woke up after a terrible nights sleep, where my bad day at work has been circling in my mind and creating dreams so I have been unable to get any rest. I woke up and have instantly thought about my bad day and now, because of the lack of sleep and the thoughts, I'm nervous about how my day is going to go and how I am going to be. I want to be determined in not letting this ruin my weekend but it can be hard especially when I have had no rest. I guess my tip for you is, because occasionally it helps for me, try to forget that you have had no sleep. Treat tonight and this evening as brand new and do not focus on how tired you are. Breath deeply and think about a beautiful beach and a sunset, laying in the sand and watching it go down. Do not allow the bad things come to mind, swipe them away and concentrate on watching that sun go down. Im not sure if its helpful but its always worth a try 🙂
