Pregnancy and fear of vomiting

My daughter is 10 months old and I just found out im pregnant with my 2nd.

My first pregnancy was pretty easy. However ive already been nauseas and my anxiety is through the roof.

I vomited for the first time since i was a kid the other night, and now i can barely leave the house.

Feeling like a terrible mother already and wondering if and how i can do this, I hate feeling out of control.

I dont know what i can do to help with my anxiety at the moment, im booked in with my psychologist but not for another week. Any advice? Thanks

Hi Christie787

Firstly congratulations on your pregnancy and also on reaching out for some support here. I am so happy you have made an appointment with your Psychologist to get some support during this time, that is really great news.

As you are learning, each pregnancy is very different and what the first one was like is no indication of any to follow. My first was a dream, the second not so much. There are some things that you can do to limit the nauseousness, eating is a big thing, if you can snack on small things often that helps keep your blood sugars regular, even if you don't feel hungry or the thought of food turns your stomach, some saladas, some toast, some fruit, whatever it is that can satisfy you, also there might be some foods that

..sorry..computers..grr

as I was saying, some foods that make it worse and you can be mindful as you eat and realize what they are and perhaps avoid them. Ginger is also a great thing for settling tummies and making that yukky feeling go away, ginger and honey tea or even fresh ginger if you can manage that.

Vomiting is fairly ordinary and I am sorry that it causes anxiety for you, hopefully this will settle down as you move further through your pregnancy.

I also found sometimes smells bothered me, so see if that is true for you, just as they can upset some can settle, like lavender or even a favorite food or something that you like the smell of.

I am so glad you have reached out for some support here and also that you have sought some support from a professional. Pregnancy is not always as wonderful as think it should be, I am glad you are taking time to gain back control of this, I hope you find my tips helpful and look forward to chatting some more.
