people tell me I’m not fat
but I believe im fat
i have lost weight I just can’t see that I have lost it on my body
i have a lot of the same symptoms for some eating disorders and I don’t know how to see if I do have one and what recovery might look like

I have always struggled to make and keep friends but I have finally made some we have been friends for aboht almost 4 years. Recently I feel like i had become distant from them and they have become distant from me
I miss them but it’s hard because they are both liked by so many people at my school and not a lot of people talk to me
I get jealous really easy and I don’t tell them but I feel jealous when they stay up talking to other people and they know im awake. “I don’t sleep much” im just wondering if anyone has anything I can do so I don’t feel so alone

Hi - first and foremost welcome to the forums! The absolute best piece of advice I or anyone here will be able to give you on your specific situation would be to speak to your GP about the matter. It takes guts to confess when we feel something may be wrong with us - so also remember to be proud about possibly identifying something that could cause you serious harm if left unchecked.

Hi, welcome
A few things I have for you to consider.
- The best way to solidify a friendship is to get into the habit of asking questions. When you ask question you are displaying that you are interested in their life, their interests and people like to talk about themselves. Eventually they will then ask you questions because they will know you care about them.
- Everyone is different so if you think you are an introvert, quiet, less popular, thats you and thats ok. Be yourself. Allow them to have other close friends. When you allow them that freedom consider this- when you see them happy with other peoples company then you are caring for them. To love someone is to put their happiness about your own feelings of jealousy.
- Be a rock! That means your friends friends will come and go like the waves at a beach, be the type of friend that will always be there, listening when they have a problem. At the end of a talk about their problems always say, "I'm always here for you my friend". Then they will value you.
- Spread yourself- never put all your eggs in one basket, try to have many friends or acquaintances for potential friends because more compatible people will emerge and become important close friends over time. "It's great to have friends but your best friend should be yourself...." TonyWK I hope that helps. Thankyou for writing in. TonyWK

Hello Dear Amellie,
Its great that you now have a diagnosis for your eating disorder, that means with your Drs help and support you can start on the road to recovery with professional help, with your parents knowing they will also be a good support…
Please don’t feel ashamed of your diagnosis sweetheart, you have an illness that needs to be treated, it’s also okay to cry, crying is a natural way to let out our emotions…blood tests are taken by millions of people all around the world on a daily basis…there’s nothing to be afraid of Amellie, I’m sure your mum will go along with you to help you to understand what’s happening…and be a caring and loving support for you….
You have nice friends who care about you…and I have no doubt that they are very proud of you being brave enough to reach out to your Dr and parents….sometimes telling your friends about your struggling with can upset and scare them….maybe now your parents know, you could lean on them for support…
All my best wishes for your upcoming blood test…talk here anytime you feel you want to…we are listening..
My kindest thoughts and care,
Grandy…

Hello
You are not abnormal being scared. On the flip side it is mind over matter and that sounds like I'm turning needles into an easy task of overcoming the fear, I'm not at all. But the duration can take a long time to overcome that fear.
For example, I had a fear of blood after working in a jail 48 years ago due to events that happened there. It lasted for 15 years and two things then occurred. 1. I wrote a poems about it and 2. I decided that blood was only red water. I've been totally free of any fear including needles since. eg I say to myself "its only a little prick feeling".
That's the goal to set for yourself. It is no different when a teacher says "you can pass this exam if you focus" and often you will because they encouraged you, so now you are encouraging yourself. It works but dont expect miracles straight away.
I joined the airforce when I was 17yo and overweight and unfit. I couldnt run 200 metres before collapsing. But my boss a corporal that was a Vietnam veteran was tough as nails and if he yelled at you "Tony- run faster catch up to the troop" then I sure did. At the end of 3 months we all ran 30 kilometres with full army combat equipment. So we do respond to directions especially firm ones from firm people. What I'm suggesting here with your needle fear is to be tough on your approach but be fair in your kindness to yourself until you overcome that fear. It's all to do with training the mind and if you can divert your attention as well that can help...
I have a short history of self harm. For me it was a case of losing control of things in my life like conflict with family members or finances etc. I soon realised that if I was to eliminate self harm I had to get professional medical help (maybe you have that?) plus I had to distract my focus on my problems and develop interests to give me more meaning of life. Eg I bought a motorbike and polished it up and went for a ride. That was my best medicine. Think about what will fulfill you more in life and go in that direction, drop off negative destructive people in your life and envelope friends that are empathetic and kind.
I hope that works for you as you seem kind and sensitive. Reply anytime
