Panic attack symptoms

Hi there

i have Gad and have recently started experiencing panic attacks which most happen while I am sleeping. I usually wake up sweating, heart racing and shaking.

however lately I have been getting them when I first go to bed. I just get this weird sensation come over me, tingly and burning sensations in my head, I feel like someone is trying to crush my chest my breathing because short and shallow and I feel paralysed. I can usually hear my husband talking to me etc and am aware of everything going on around me. After I come out of it find it very hard to talk but it does eventually subside.

i am just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar? I know that panic attacks don’t have to have the typical symptoms but just basically looking for some reassurance.

Yes, absolutely.

Are you getting some help for your GAD? I find meditation before bed to be helpful. This promotes relaxation and eases the mind into the "cool down" period. There is some great apps you can get on your phone that are free. My GP recommended meditation to help with sleep, so I'm confident in sharing that with you 🙂
