Not sure if its anxiety or grief

I lost my 94 year old father in March this year followed by my brother in September. Its been a stressful year to say the least and I have tried to give myself time. As Christmas approaches my stress levels and restlessness have increased. I find myself being emotional and teary more frequently. I guess I should see a counsellor but not game enough to take the first step. Just wanted to know has anyone else felt this ongoing grief. Thought it would have passed by now.

Hi, welcome

Most times the grief never ends, it just becomes more manageable as time goes by.

So some tips for grief-

  • It cant be rushed
  • It is unique to every individual so there are no time limits
  • Distraction by way of hobbies, sports and interests help enormously. Even a walk around the block helps.
  • Helping others can be rewarding and boost your self esteem
  • An honour item eg a garden/tree/item used as a memorial.
  • Turn some of it around eg live life to honour that person eg your father.

I hope I've helped. We had such a year 3 years ago and for us the middle of the following year was a good improvement.
