Hello everyone,
a quick brief on myself...
mid 20s male, suffered with anxiety for 6-7 years and possible bouts of depression.
I have been on a long journey and tried a lot of different medications but I have found not a lot has worked so far so I am venturing into non pharmaceutical treatment options.
I would just like to know what I am allowed to discuss on here as I have never used any type of fourm before to discuss my mental health...
I have had previous prescription drug problems with anti-anxiety medications and pain management medications from a work injury falling from a ladder. I was lucky enough to have a fantastic GP who I am completely honest with who has helped me tremendously with previous said issues.
In short I would like to also know if discussing any of this can be self incriminating and get me in legal problems??
I would love to discuss and have other people's support and opinions in relation to my anxiety as I feel very alone and isolated a lot of the time.
I have a very supportive family which helps tremendously but only my partner knows about the prescription medication problems.
I also work full time in a well paid Job as a Electricial supervisor on larger construction jobs. My employer knows about previous anxiety issues but nothing else. He is also very understanding, Unfortunately the same cannot be said for other work colleagues.
I look forward to hearing from other members here and hopefully from past experiences I can be of help to other members. I find even the idea of an online community for like minded people with similar problems very comforting... Knowing I'm not alone and help is available is a good feeling.

I believe that if anyone has serious anxiety problems then it's very possible that they are also struggling with depression, others may disagree, and that's their choice.
It is so important that any person has a terrific relationship and understanding with their doctor, because if you hold certain things back from telling them, then how are they able to give you the advice which is needed to help you, just as my doctor knows me 'inside out'.
On this site all posts are monitored and if the comment is not suitable then the Moderators won't allow it to be shown.
When you click onto 'Get Support' and go down to 'Online Forums' then Community rules appears, but in general all types of discussions are allowed except for the mention of names of medication or anything to do that may benefit a company from profiting.
You aren't allowed to abuse anybody from their reply or comment, so basically that's it, but read the community rulesjust in case I have missed something else which is important, other than that welcome aboard.
If you feel as though you have a prescription problem then your doctor will advice you of the problems that it will create, if not already done so, and we have had posts from people who do have medication problems as well as alcohol concerns.
There is a problem with your workmates if they don't accept what you have told your boss, because this can lead to being bullied, which will then worsen your situation.
You are certainly not alone on how you feel on this site, so would it be possible to read a few other posts so that you can know what has been said, and by saying this I hope that you can get back to us. Geoff.

Dear Velado
Hello and welcome. Geoff has given you a thumbnail sketch of the rules of posting and as he said, you can access these rules on the home page or scroll to the top of this page and click on read our community rules.
I see you have tried a number of medications without success. Have you tried talking to a psychologist or psychiatrist? It is often beneficial to talk to one of these professionals about anxiety. Also talk about it here. We are a diverse group of people with problems. Many struggle with depression and/or anxiety as one seems to flow from the other. You will find a number of threads on this topic so feel free to join in.
You can start your own thread if you wish. Just be careful not to write about a topic that is already being discussed. Join in a conversation where your topic is already under discussion and add your comments.
Great to chat to you.
