Some people call it a nervous poo.

I get that feeling and I now connect it to anxiety. Which means if I just need to poo I fear that I'm having a panic attack.

Its apparently part of the fight or flight response. All you blood is moving to you muscles so you can either run or fight. Things like you bowels aren't necessary at that moment.

I find understanding what's happening helps a little

yeah i get that! i know its nervous poo, but i havent been nervous.
i had to get a coronavirus test last week as i had a cold, and couldn't work for a week, which i think is what is making me feel this way.

it comes with the constant anxiety feelings, like sick feeling but not actually feeling sick, the 'weird' feelings under my boobs and in my throat.

i am also a smoker (because of anxiety) which i think is making it worse also.

i am glad you have an understanding on what im talking about 🙂

Hi constantoverthinker (and a wave of thanks to Whatsinaname!)

welcome to the forums and good on you for having the courage to post too!

You are not alone about the poo symptoms....I have also had the same on and off for a long time

Our digestive system is the most sympathetic (vulnerable) to stress levels and will let us know if we have something on our mind....I have included a members link below about the physical symptoms of anxiety and what you have posted is very common...This is a big thread with heaps of posts yet well worth a sticky beak 🙂

you are not alone with this symptom at all

any questions are always welcome!

hello!

do you get constant sick feeling, but dont actually feel sick or anything? and the feeling under boobs and throat.

i have a phobia (ocd) about sickness and germs too which doesnt help.

thank you!

Hi constantoverthinker

Yes I used to as well...feeling sick...as in blah..especially in the throat...It can be a pain even though a common feeling. Being concerned about sickness/germs is also very common too

I hope you can have a look at all the various symptoms on the red link above 🙂

There are many gentle people that can be here for you....and many of us are 'overthinkers'

you are not alone!

Paul

thank you!

what did you do to make it go away? between bowel and these feelings it’s making me so anxious and hating on life. (not literally)

i will have another look at that link you posted.

cheers.

Hey constantoverthinker!

Great question....ummm....our bowel movements can vary as per our day to day stress levels so its hard to provide you with a specific answer...except lowering stress levels...even by a little will help 🙂

The higher our stress levels....the more prone we are to having digestive issues (subject to our GP's opinion)

Great to have you as part of the forum family! The forums are a safe and non judgemental place for both of us to post 🙂

Paul

hey!

yeah that’s true! at least i know i’m not alone and it’s semi normal!

do you get the nausea but not nausea feelings with anxiety too?!

thank you so much!

Hey constantoverthinker!

Thanks for such an important post!

I'm a true believer in gut health. I believe our guts are intertwined with our mental health.

When I get anxious, i sometimes get diarrhea and also get nausea with anxiety.

I remember as a kid the anxiety of needing to go to school sent me racing the the toilet!

Love this forum you've created!

Regards,
