Hi everyone , I'm new to this forum.

I've suffered from anxiety from a young age. And it has been a trigger on and off for years . So over it. Is there a way to truly ever overcome it , like forever?

Hello Fuzzy, the short answer is no, but before you feel bad, it's important to get perspective - anxiety is actually a normal part of being alive. It is vital for our survival that we have the ability to feel anxiety and stress, otherwise our ancestors would never have gotten out of the jungle alive!

Anxiety only becomes a problem when our brain's panic switch remains stuck in the ON position, and this is what can then become diagnosed as an 'anxiety disorder', and these come in many different forms. You mention triggers, I am guessing that perhaps you experience panic attacks at certain times when certain things happen?

Part of treating anxiety like this is learning to recognise your triggers and manage them, ideally by seeing a counsellor or a psychologist (you can get a referral through your doctor), but there are numerous self help books and tools on the internet too to help manage your thoughts. Plus chatting on here as a lot of us have been living with anxiety and its symptoms for many years!

When you learn to manage your anxiety, it is a bit like riding a bike. It's a set of skills that you learn and put into place, but it doesn't mean that you will never ever fall off your bike. It's just that you will have the confidence to get back on again and continue. Does this make sense? Hope to hear back from you soon.
