New job offer anxiety

Received new job offer. Having some social anxiety.Current job is mostly emails, sometimes meetings and phone calls. New job will involve staff control, more being with and among people. Nearly accepted and feel depressed. Afraid if force myself, can break down. I'm 60, stay at current calm but less paid job or change? How to build this confidence to accept and go on with success?

hello Sasim, this is a question you won't know the answer to until you accept it, however being 60 and offered a job means you are very good at what you do and also a very capable person, so well done.
The main concern in taking this job is that you are already feeling depressed because your involvement would include being amongst people and more so working with them and if you are already suffering from social anxiety, it's going to take an enormous effort to do this.
Being 60 years old means it's not going to be easy to overcome this, as I'm 62 myself I know that it maybe some job that will only cause more problems for yourself, I would stay where you are, better health far outweighs better salary in situations where you may not cope.
Good on you for being employed. Geoff.

Thanks Geoff, you might be right. I can still delay the decision by a few weeks, if continue to feel stressed/depressed, will consider a no go. The only thing against is this is how I take changes normally, took me big effort to take current job, and now I am very happy. If I don't accept, I probably will have only two years to work, before the role removed. If I do, then can stay another 5 which is my target.
