Never ending

Hi everyone.

Hope you all are well.

I’m 23 this year and have been suffering with anxiety since I was 19. Does anyone know anything that can help? Medication doesn’t work as it makes me nauseous. Has anyone seen a psychiatrist before & has it helped? I feel like this is never going to end. Every day I’m anxious, even when I’m not doing anything. I could just be sitting there doing nothing at all and my heart would be racing & my mind would be going crazy.

Hi welcome to BB A_2105 ☺

Not good having that go on is it.

The more Im hearing about anxiety here the symptms can be controlled and be managed which is good news

I have heard good results with professional help too, they might be able to help you understand the cause/s of your anxiety.

Personally I've found hard internal self talks helped. Being aware its anxiety and saying " No, not having this I need to calm down" accessing the logical no nonsense part of us

By focusing on deep slow breathing in and out, not thinking about anything else especially not how you're feeling, this acknowledgement exacerbates it. It's like panic rising up and I think its stress looking for an out.

By concentrating on our breathing it diverts our thoughts away from the stress we feel amongst other reasons.

Doing this is taking control of our thoughts and redirecting them. Does help ☺

There are various coping strategy threads which you might be interested in too and several anxiety threads around where you also might find something helpful

Please feel free to post anytime

Best wishes ☺

Hello A_2105

I understand your anxiety as I have had the same for a while know.

Its not always the meds that provide us with some peace...its the frequency of the counseling. I am on meds as I kept putting off the therapy I really needed (just for me)

The meds are never a fix all. They only provide us with a solid foundation on which we can heal more effectively with a good counselor

I hope you can post back when its convenient for you with any thoughts or questions

You are not alone

My Kind thoughts

Hi A_2105,

Good on you for recognising the problem and being open to working on it.

I found that any medication didn’t work for me but that seeing my Psychologist was a great experience. We built a great foundation on how to work together and I found that talking through things with an outsider made situations feel easier to handle. I would highly recommend.

Would also suggest some type of meditation. There are heaps of things on YouTube so you can really pick what you feel like. Short, long, male or female.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
