Dear Spph,

It is admirable to admit and identify that you need help with mental health support. You are not alone and don’t need to suffer alone.

Beside being on these forums, have you connected with your GP to get a Mental Health Plan, that allows you 10 sessions per calendar year to see a therapist or psychologist? It is offered by Medicare. It equates to one session for 10 months,if you stretch it out. I tend to do that instead of using it all up more quickly. But everyone is different and you may like closer appointments. The calendar year is nearly over . Please be aware some GP clinics do charge a fee for a plan/review to be done, so ask the receptionist when you book. My clinic used to do them for free and now they charge me. It was a shock when I got that bill. They typically give you six sessions to start off and you go back to your GP for a review and can get 4 more sessions. Also that psychosocial therapy is in demand and there can be a waiting time to see someone. But many services now offer in clinic appointments or Zoom/Telehealth options. In the meantime there are online support groups you can do over zoom or in person.

I too suffer from Anxiety and know how debilitating it can get in your daily life if left to do so. And with pressures of Christmas and New Year, many people feel increased symptoms this time of year.

So Spph, How are you doing? Do you believe there was anything that has triggered an increase in your anxiety? Only share what you feel like and when you feel you can.

Hope to hear back from you soon.

Hello Spph, warm welcome to the forums.

Sorry to hear about your challenges. Glad to hear you are reaching out in the forums. You have come to the right place where there is no judgement. I tend to overthink and become anxious too, so I totally understand how overwhelming it can be sometimes.

Admitting and accepting mental health challenges and seeking support is the first and bold step to getting better. It's a sign of strength, very proud of you.

Good to hear you are seeking professional help as your worries may not go away on their own and can get worse over time. It may be easier to treat if you get help early.

Feel free to read through different sections / topics on the forums, you may relate to some of them and that can help you.

Hear to listen and help if you feel like sharing more...

Take care
