Hi ever since my nan passed i have been trying to get back to work but i get overwhelmed and can't go ahead, i like my job but i fear there patience might be running thin and i have only been there for about 3 months. I don't know how to i can get myself to go, I'm joining the Gym again and going to go everyday until my swing starts again in 4 days. Its a 4 days on 4 days off roster and hoping that might help otherwise anyone got any more ideas that may help?

Thank You

Richard

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your post. I'm sorry to hear about your Nan. It sounds like it's been really hard on you.

It's totally understandable that this is overwhelming you at work. I'm guessing that your head is probably full of grief at the moment and yet work is asking you to push it all aside and focus? Is there anyone that you've talked to at work who can support you at this time?

It's a great idea to go to the gym. Are there any other ways that might help you cope? Or would it help to try and feel close to your Nan? While it doesn't work for everyone of course, sometimes it can be really therapeutic to take some time and look through photos or find ways to feel connected with her. I know for me personally I had to find this time to just get absorbed in my grief so that it didn't turn into all this overwhelm. Maybe that could be the same for you.

Hi Richy

Sorry about your loss. I have recently lost a close family member also.

Joining the gym is a great idea. Maybe look into some other hobbies/ activities to keep your mind busy on days off. Reach out to your family members to because they are likely all still grieving. You can support each other.

If you enjoy your job, it might be good to start back so that you are busy. Explain to your employer what has happened and how you are feeling. Perhaps your can start back part time or with reduced responsibilities until you are up to it.

All the best.
