Medication: can it get worse before it gets better?

Hi all

I'm on week 3 of medication, and hadn't really noticed too much change until this week. Started to feel somewhat more positive on Monday, but then yesterday was a complete disaster and i was very very low. Then today, feeling more positive again.

I wondered if maybe this rollercoaster could be part of the beginnings of new med?

TIA

I'm on the same time line as you (about to start my third week) and have been having the same since yesterday, very emotional at the moment, will cry at the drop of a hat, I'm wondering if maybe my dosage is too high as I am on a higher dose than I have previously been on, am seeing my GP on Friday to find out

Fm it can be a roller coaster tock it easy no standing when the ride is in motion, keep arms and legs in the defined areas till the ride comes to a full stop. The meds are just starting to work give it time to settle in a bit more. Talk it over with your doctor. But give it time it will settle in soon.

Kanga is spot on! Just hang in there and remember that it may take a few weeks until you stabilise and start to feel better. Everyone is different, so there's no sure fire way to predict how long before any 'start up' symptoms disappear. You can always chat online with a BB counsellor. You'll find the link up on the right hand side of this page. I recently 'googled' my meds as my dosage was increased and I had some 'start up' symptoms. I also chatted online with a BB counsellor who helped put my mind at ease. I hope this and Kangas posts have helped.
