Hello
I'm 26 years old almost 27 I'm posting here because I need a bit of guidance on what my condition is. To start off I'm going to be honest I'm a recently retired drug user, 2weeks clean now from ice and 6months clean from weed. My problem is that now that I have stopped I get these weird feelings when I want to go to sleep, almost like I'm scared of going to sleep also I have been getting down, to the stage of almost crying but I can't, then I feel like a I'm so heavy it's hard to describe and this really bothers me because I really don't know whats going on, I can't tell my parents because I don't want them to worry and stress about me. Has this happened to anyone here?? If anyone could help I would really like that, thank you.

Hey 20's are pretty tough and naturally a time of social partying.
6 Months away from weed's a good effort and shows you have the will. (imagine sleep would have difficult.
Again Ice, depending on your length of use will probably depend on any symptoms.
Enough Amphetamine in your body can have an apposite effect than you's think. ( A proper sleep cycle if too stimulated is difficult, just as person trying to sleep without enough (Mainly Dopamine)
I'd chase it up though, a condition can become a disorder if managed. It's a bit tough with limited information
Mail back though 🙂

Hey MassaWassa,
Welcome to the forums and thank you so much for posting. It is really hard to share your situation with others and this is extremely brave of you and shows a tremendous amount of courage, strength and resilience to say the least! You should be proud of yourself!
I would like to congratulate you on being clean for two weeks from ice and 6 months from marijuana. This is excellent and refraining from these recreational and illicit drugs is extremely important during the treatment/recovery phase. I have worked with a few clients who have mental health conditions and substance abuse/misuse.
In terms of diagnosing and figuring out what condition you have, I would recommend you seeing a health professional (GP) and discussing your concerns. You mention you are scared of going to sleep and you have been breaking down and not feeling well. These symptoms could be withdrawal symptoms and possibly the substance use could be a result of an underlying and undiagnosed mental health condition. Please consider seeing your GP and discussing this issue with him/her .
It is totally understandable for you to be feeling the way you are feeling and not wanting to tell your parent's because you don't want to stress them out or have them worrying, however, having a good support network around and it seems like you do is amazing and really important so utilising your network is something you may wish to consider.
You are extremely brave and I think seeking professional medical advice/assistance is the way to go. Things will get better. You are doing amazing at the moment and your strength to stay clean is inspiring.
Hope this helps.
All the best.
Nick.
