Hi yxis123,
Firstly, welcome to the forums. I am sorry to read what you are currently going through.
Like you, I am an anxiety sufferer mixed in with some mild depression as well. You said you haven't left the house in 5 weeks, is this because the thought of leaving the house gives you a panic attack or when you try to actually leave, you have a panic attack? It sounds like you have a lot on your plate as well, how long have you been suffering from anxiety and depression? Do you know when it started?
One thing I recommend to everyone who is in these situations is speaking with a GP, I know this may be very hard for you as you do not like to talk to people you do not know, but professional help is a good way to attack mental health issues, one thing I could suggest is writing down exactly how you are feeling and giving the doctor the note to read rather than speaking directly about it, they would still ask questions but might be an option for you, do you have anyone who you can speak to about this?
Please, remember you can call the Beyond Blue helpline on 1330 22 4636 24/7 to discuss how you are feeling, they are trained professionals, another option as you do not like speaking is to use the chat function to speak to a trained professional, they are available from 3 pm - 12 am every day.
Please, post back as much as you like, we are always happy to talk.
My best for you,
Jay

Hey yxis123 and welcome to the BB forums,
Well, you’re in a bit of a pickle with stuff at the moment.
Jay, in the post above, made some excellent suggestions above. In particular that you call the BB 24/7 phone line for some help - please do that 🙂
Have you seen a GP about your anxiety/depression? If not, you need to tackle this - I know you’re probably not motivated, but for your financial survival, this is important. Let the GP know that you are on JobSearch allowance and that you have failed your “activities” test. They cannot backdate a sickness certificate, but they can certainly help you in the future.
Next, there’s headspace.org.au a mental health resource for young people. If you google Headspace you should get a phone number that you can ring, for assistance. These guys help on Mental Health, but they should also be across all of the complexity of the Centrelink stuff, particularly as it relates to young folk like you.
Please take some action, you’ll feel a lot better.
Please come back and talk with us, I’d like to know how you’re going, bestest, cheers M 🙂

@Bball
Leaving the house isn't a problem its the world outside. The strangers and acquaintances I have to face. Talking has never been my strong point but now talking feels like i just make a stuttering mess of words and what I want to say is never said. All the while a feeling of impending doom grips my heart.
I've been dealing with depression and anxiety since 16. I only started getting help when I was 19. I went to head space multiple time and spoke to counselors to try work through some of the stuff I've been through. Its given me some motivation and I had been with them on and off for a couple months or so at a time. I've stopped going thought it was better. I was better. I've been on anti-depressants but they've only made my head fogged and I feel sick using them. I was doing a I.T course at the time and I just couldn't think properly.
The anxiety has been getting worse while depression comes and goes the anxiety is allways there. Its been 6 years dealing with this stuff and everything gets harder. And now I've dug a hole I don't know how to get out of. Can you just give me advice on what I should do to fix my problem. Soon it'll be christmas...

Both Jay and Mathy have given you some great advice wish I hope you can do, remember to write down on some paper what you are worried about, plus your anxiety and even though depression maybe not so strong at the moment, it's still there and can never be discounted.
I know on top of their advice you can also contact Anglicare who will help you out, remember taking that piece of paper with you, so perhaps you should photocopy it.
You should never stop going because you feel better, simply because it's likely to return, so you need to know how to stop these trigger points, and these may vary depending on what sort of day you are having.
We have to get you help and to replenish your finances and look

Hi yxis123,
I have been in a similar spot with my anxiety, I started developing it in my late teens and just dealt with it all through my 20's, I didn't seek help until last year however which was the turning point for me, geoff above gave some great advice and continually seeking the help with psychologists is the number 1 things to be doing, they are there to help you understand everything and as said above, learning how to stop these trigger points.
Do you want to go into more detail about what exactly you are facing, maybe speaking about it may help you. You do not have to go into what is causing this but just a thought as we can only give general advice on how to deal with the anxiety and any mental health issues. Since you stopped going you haven't been back have you?
My best,
Jay
