Hi, I'm not one to talk about my anxitey as I've always managed it on my own, but 4 months ago I was weened off my antidepressants and I'm in a good place, but this anxitey is horrid.....I'm always feeling ill, tight chest, loss of appetite .....it's like I'm breathing it through all day....I wish it would stop as I hate being controlled...I don't want to go back on tablets as it was the most horrid process getting off them, in fact I'm sure I still have side affects for them....ahhhhh don't even know why I'm here and saying all this.....just my Dr keeps saying I will be fine, it's just your anxiety, so now I just won't go see him....so I suppose I'm here to remind myself I'm not alone.....ok sorry for not making any sense

Tilly,

You are not alone!!!! I hate anxiety too! It's not nice at all!

Just a quick question, have you ever seen a psycologist or councillor who could help you with some techniques to manage your anxiety? I use CBT and acceptance therapy! They take hard work but for the most part they help a lot!

Im going to borrow some words from one of the wisest people on this forum (in my opinion),

Be kind to yourself!

Skye

ps, if you can no longer see your gp, find another one, a good gp is so important!

Hi Tilly,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing. Its okay if you don't make perfect sense when you post on here... sometimes its helpful to just get ones thoughts out. But what you wrote made a lot of sense anyway!

I'm sorry to hear your anxiety is so horrible at the moment. I know the feeling of walking around with constant nausea, tightness in the tummy and body, no appetite. You mentioned just breathing through it... it made me think, have you tried breathing techniques to help calm your body a little? Sometimes (when i'm motivated to practice them) I find them really helpful, at least in the short term. It sounds like you really don't want to go back on tablets... have you tried other things to help with your anxiety?

It sounds like your doctor doesn't understand how difficult it is for your right now? Are they a GP or a psychologist? Maybe you can try seeing your doctor again and let them know that you're not coping with this anxiety? And maybe try to get some more support?

I guess reading your post also reminded me how my depression and anxiety appear to be linked - and often my anxiety goes up when my depression goes down and vice versa. I guess for me they both need treating.

Maybe some other people have some good suggestions about dealing with anxiety?

Kind wishes, Christina

"Its just anxiety" Anyone who says that, especially if they ought to know better, such as a GP lacks the understanding of what that term can mean in the lives of those afflicted with it - So your being "fine" simply entails you accept your anxiety as a day to day reality of your life.                                                                                         Anyone who says that isn't worthy of your time. See another GP and get a referral to see a Psychologist. You need and deserve help and that help is available. Yoga: exercise: meditation and many other means are available to you. Insight into the nature and causes of your anxiety can make all the difference.                                                                 Everything you say makes sense and you are most certainly not alone. Don't rule out medication but discuss your concerns with your GP. Anxiety isn't a virus and its cause can be understood and addressed.                                                                                                      Philip.

Hi Tilly72

I wish I had the answer for you and was able to help you with the crippling anxiety. I know I don't but I will say this, you are so not alone. It's a horrible place to be, and like you said it's controlling. Just always remember you are not alone and when you are in the anxiety zone if you need we are here for you.

Hi Tilly,

that's great to hear you're so committed to breathing! 🙂

But yeah I hear you, about how external things in life can be going so well and then something happens (known or unbeknown) that causes anxiety or depression to set in. I guess I take comfort in knowing it'll pass. But it also drives me mad to be at the seemingly same point again and struggling.

Is there maybe something that is triggering the anxiety? Or something you feel you need in life to help the anxiety lesson? Or do you think you just need to ride through it?

Sending kindness your way, Christina
