Dear Jan p~
I can sympathize with your feelings of needing a doctor to help you but being very wary, and want one who will take time and understand.
Like many people I wish I new the answer, early on I'd try whoever seemed available, and that did not help a great deal and I had to keep changing.
I guess the two things you can do are firstly in any medical center ask if there is GP who had a special interest in mental health, if not try another center, and of course use word of mouth if you can. You may have freinds you have mentioned a GP they get on well with .
It is in fact due to people's recommendations I ended up with an excellent GP who in turn suggested a particular psychiatrist. It has worked out well.
Having an anxiety condition simply mkaes the whole matter worse and trying to make a decision becomes seemingly fraught with danger.
Perhaps if you can remember you are in charge and can firstly discuss the matter and then actually change if you find the medical professional is not giving you what you need. You are right in that you do need to trust, and that can come after surprisingly few consultations if the person is concerned for you and talks sense in an understandable manner.
I, who also have an anxiety condition, have found in the past sometimes it helps to have somebody go with you to the doctor's and bring you back after.
Do you mind if I ask what support you have at the moment? Is there someone in your family or a friend you can share this burden with, not necessarily to fix things, but just to listen and care so you do not feel quite alone facing all this.

Hello Jan p, you are certainly not alone in how you are feeling, we all need someone who is dedicated, interested and inspired on ways on how to help us with whatever is weighing us down.
We can't mistake a person who is genuinely helping us with therapy, medication and assistance who also may have their bad days themselves and then decide to seek out another doctor because no one can keep having a perfect day, and if for any reason you have a session like this, be polite and make another appointment for the next day, that's definitely not your fault.
If you find it difficult to discuss how you are feeling when asked, then write down your answer on some paper, you don't necessarily have to talk, communicate by pen and paper.
Click on 'Get Support' at the top and scroll down until you see 'Find a professional' and once payment or bulk bill details have been set up, you could talk by phone or write down how you are feeling, then scan this and email it to the doctor.
Hope this helps and please get back to us.
Geoff.
