Hi everyone
i have health anxiety, mainly in the evenings for some reason, I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis for 30 years, I have spinal stenosis, interstitial cystitis, I had breast cancer 6 years ago and 3 years ago I had a perforated bowel with sepsis, leaving me with a stoma
I have been on a lot of medication including two antidepressants .
my partner died in August last year, so I'm alone with only my little dog for company, I don't like socializing, preferring my own company but wish I could find friendship with others who have health anxiety also

Hi Jen1954,
Welcome to the Forums and thank you for your post. There is no doubt that you have been through a tremendous amount, both with your health as well as the loss of your partner, for which we extend our deepest sympathies. it is completely understandable that going through everything that you have been through would leave you with a sense of anxiety over your health.
You are definitely not alone in what you’re feeling. A lot of us here can relate, especially those feelings of increased anxiety in the evenings, when the world is quieter and there are less distractions. You’re also not alone here in preferring your own company, or that of a pet. Here on the Forums can be a great way to connect with others who get what you’re feeling, in a way that feels less overwhelming than an in-person social interaction. We even have a social section on the Forums that you can feel free to engage with, too.
When you’re those feelings of anxiety are loud, is there anything in particular that you do to help ease the anxiety? If you’re interested, Beyond Blue has some anxiety management strategies here which are really practical: We also have some older threads around health anxiety which you might be interested in reading through: Health anxiety
As it has been some time since your post, how has the last week been for you? You’re always welcome here to let us know how you’re travelling. Please know you’re not alone in this, we’re here to support you. 💙
Kind regards
Sophie M
