Hi there,
i suffer from health anxiety.
i had chest pains the other day and ended up in hospital because of an irregulararity on my ECG, an arrhythmia occasionally in my heart.
They discharged me and told me to see a cardiologist,
im just worried I’m Going to have a sudden cardiac arrest because of this should I be concerned?
thanks 🙂

Hi Benny10
Ive experienced a similar situation where my heart was beating to fast and I was just resting on the couch.
I went into hospital and wasn’t discharged until they were happy for me to go. Followed up with cardiologist too.
I am thinking it is the same for you. They wouldn’t have told you to go home if they were concerned for your health and would tell you if it was urgent.
Follow up with appointment and take care!

Hi Benny,
I would think, and cerrtainly hope, that if they thought you were at risk of having a sudden cardiac arrest, that they would have kept you in hospital and not let you leave until they were certain you were safe to do so.
May I suggest some relaxation and perhaps mediation techniques in the meantime ..... it help you to stress lest, and therefore relax your heart a little.
A very wise friend of mine once said to me "Life is not about the 'what ifs' but the 'what IS'. Try to remember to stick to the facts, and tell that fearful voice in your head 'Thanks for sharing that, but I'm only interested in what IS today, and nothing more' and then take 5 deep and slow breaths.
I'm no medical expert though, so if you are deeply concerned than you could perhaps ring an advice line, like Nurse on Call, or, if you really do start to feel symptoms and are worried, then call 000 ...... I am assuming you are in Australia anyway. Otherwise, if overseas then your emergency hotline number would not be triple zero.
Remember; stick to the facts, take deep breaths, and don't believe everything your head tells you.
Hope that helps a little. xo

Hi Benny
I must agree with Clear82.
Heart Palpitations are one of the most common stress symptoms. Even I get them when I get frustrated or anxious. When this happens exercise stress reduction techniques like deep breathing and relaxation.
