Hate my new job

Dannybaar
Community Member

HI

I have just joined a new job ( 1 month now). I am struggling at this place. The politics are rampant; people are undermining me, we are giving lip service instead of getting to the bottom of the issues, favouritism. I work in the IT field. I had some good runs in the job aspect, but this one is becoming unbearable. It has started impacting my life. At times, I wonder what my life's aim or purpose is. Another issue is I cannot confront anyone and always look at making others happy first. Maybe this attitude does not work in the corporate world.

I have an awesome average family, and I am an immigrant. I have a couple of excellent friends.

It is making me sick.

I have depression and am currently on meds. I apologise for my haphazard writing.

hello there thanks for posting and welcome

It can be draining working in this kind of environment and im sorry to hear
If there is no one who you can speak with who is in a manager role about this then it seems like not a lot can be done on your end

Great that you have good family and a couple friends but sorry your struggling
Have you thought about talking about whats happening with someone external such as a counsellor to talk about your situation and to offer advice and support

I hope this helps, Please reach out whenever u need
Thanks for sharing

Hi Dannybaar,

Sorry to hear about this toxic work environment. That's certainly not a nice place for you while you manage your depression.

I know you're only 1 month in, but if its not a good fit, have you considered looking around at other jobs that are available? Just slowing starting the process to see what's out there. The right job can take time to find, but if you have the wheels in motion it may help you cope with your current scenario and you can work towards finding the right place for you.

Let us know how you're getting on.

Hi Dannybaar,

Im sorry that your workplace is this way.

You can always choose how you want to react to this behaviour .

I understand sometimes we question what is our life purpose?

What are you passionate about?

What makes you feel alive when you speak about something?

Seek your life purpose and you will find it, sometimes in unexpected ways.

Hi,

Thank you for being so open. I can see that you are feeling distressed and helpless. You are so strong.

Remember to put your mental health first. You are more important than money. Money is temporary. if it is affecting you that much, then maybe you should think of finding a new job.

Have you looked for new jobs?

Stay safe and I am always here to chat.
