I recovered from severe anxiety from intrusive & scary thoughts that I knew was ridiculous but I couldn't stop them. I had a very fast heart beat especially at night in bed! My heart beat was pounding part of the time! This went on for 6 weeks! I have been told by 3 Doctors that my heart is alright as it's caused by anxiety. I had an ECG, an Ultrasound & blood test which are all normal. I have very bad Cardio anxiety as I am worried that my heart will still be damaged or strained from the 6 weeks. I don't want a heart attack down the track! Has anyone had heart racing or pulpitations for this long?

Dear New Member~
I'd like to welcome you to the Forum, a good move on your part as if you look around you may find others who have faced similar problems.
I had something similar but need to say first I can give you the logical answer to your very frightening worries. With the number of doctors and the number and completeness of the tests you have taken then I'd be surprised if damage did not show up.
If in doubt put the particular question about the result of prolonged stress or damage to your doctors and see what they say. I'm not a doctor and they are the best source of accurate information.
I freely admit the logical approach is probably not going to stop your worry about this which may well be based on your anxiety, not on probability.
I had continuing chest pain with high pulse rate until eventualy I went into ED and explained what I was feeling. I too had every test under the sun over the next day or so. All came back negative. I was eventually able to accept it was my anxiety condition because I've had other physical symptoms that when first tested I could not accept the results and thought it had to be a mistake or mix-up
After repeated tests I eventually saw there was no physical reason and accepted it was anxiety. So this time around I accepted negative results much more quickly.
Can I suggest if you have not done so already you seek treatment for your anxiety. I make this suggestion because I found I could not make my self better - quite the reverse, and becuse I'd let things go for a long time I was hard to treat, nevertheless treatment and medication has helped very greatly and I'm not the person I was.
It is always hard to accept that something that feels so physically real can be caused by the mind alone, however it can be true.
If you would like to come back and talk more I would like to know how you get on
