Hi

I suffer from GAD with frequent anxiety panic attacks. It has been off and on for most off my life but I never seem to be over it. I have a trigger of when I am criticised or feel I am failing or less then perfect; what do i do? Will it ever go away?

Hi Fred first we have some good news followed by shitty news. If you've got it you've got it for good. sorry thats the shitty news over and done with get that out of the way. Providing you area good listener ant talk well with your doctor. You can come up with a plan that when your in a full blown their here they are going to kill me panic attack. On the inside on the outside your that cool they could keep a side of beef on you for a million years. It takes practice find out a way to keep yourself calm on the inside concentrate on that. As often as you can. Eventually it becomes second nature. I had a couple of good teachers who put me through stressful situations that would normally trigger me. But because I was in a safe place and knew I was safe now if I can see a panic attack coming on In my mind I sprint into my safe place in my mind and I wind up feeling so much better.

I hope this helps Kanga

Hi Fred22

Thankyou for posting with us and having the courage too!

GAD...or anxiety can be treated so we can have a better quality of life. I understand your situation as I used to have chronic anxiety for over a decade and it is an awful disorder to have.

I am not sure of any treatment or counseling that may have had in the past. Can I ask you if you have a GP that has a strong focus on mental health?

The severity of anxiety symptoms can be reduced with super regular help from a GP or a counselor and meds if recommended by your health professional. It took me 13 years to realise I required regular visits with my anxiety. I wish I engaged my GP earlier

I hope you can elaborate so we can help you more effectively Fred 🙂

My kind thoughts

Hi

Thanks for that - I have GP who is trying to balance the meds and deal with the physical symptons.

i have a psych who is helping me with PTSD and thoughts but it is all very early though I have had this disorder off and on for 25 years (happy birthday).
