Too fat or too skinny? Weird marks? Ugly legs and feet? Not saying it’s neccessarily true ( we are our own worst critic, after all) yet, I feel gross. Not just because I’m fat, but I wish my private areas looked a little different too. I know exercise and healthy eating is a big part obviously, I admit that’s on me. Hard though, lol.
I’m too self conscious to get naked in front of anyone atm, though I used to. I felt insecure then but just didn’t show it. You?

Hello xhomeostasisx,
I think, like you, most people have body hang-ups (most definitely including me). I agree with you that we can often be our own worst critics. Although maybe it will reassure you a little that I feel most people don’t always notice what we may feel really self conscious about...
That being said, I don’t think there’s an easy route, so to speak, to learning to be comfortable in our own body. As you mentioned, there are things like exercise and good nutrition that form the basis of a positive attitude towards our body. But, like you said, easier in theory than in practice. Perhaps it would help to find exercises that you enjoy, and recipes that suit your lifestyle and tastes...
Also, just as a gentle suggestion, you might like to look up The Butterfly Foundation online. They’re a national organisation that helps people with body image issues. I think maybe there will be some useful tips there...
Kind thoughts to you,
Pepper

Hi there xhomeostasasisx
may I just say that username is sweet as futuristic almost ..
i watched a show recently called I feel pretty ...starring Amy Schmuer ...u must watch it ..
so here’s how I am with my body image .
theres two ...one before the split ...and then another after the split .
my ex ..didn’t make me feel too pretty about my body ..so I felt like crap . He didn’t say nice things about it .so I thought the worse of it .
now that I split I’m actually quite comfortable in fact I’m grateful for my body ..whatever imperfections ..there is ..it’s me ...stretch marks ...gave me my beautiful son ...
Cellulite thighs ..well that’s from the Coke I love ...damm
But I have learnt to be accepting of myself first ...accept the flaws and embrace it . Once you do that...u got self acceptance ..and then we work on self love ...hahhaha
im not an expert on that at all ..as I have a lack of discipline ..things just do stick ...but I accept that’s my flaw...I don’t give myself too much of a hard time when I do just laze around like a slug. But I ensure to give myself a pat on the back and celebrate my little victories ...every single one ..I milk it ...that smile i gave to whoever just walked past me ..I start feeling good ...I think u have to first love yourself no matter how bad it is ...then can you introduce measures to slowly change it ...take a step at a time ...make little progress..and then you start building up on it ...baby steps is what I’m saying . You and I and all other being on this planet ...is different ..none the same ...so embrace what makes you ..you ..as there’s only one you ever ...and that’s so Darn SPECIAL.
its much easier to incorporate change once you have self acceptance and self love . And the best news in the world is ...you are the best person suited on the planet earth to love yourself the way you are supposed to be loved..the way you deserve to be loved .
and watch that movie ..it’s brilliant .
stay well
hope this helps you
