I've had anxiety for as long as I can remember.
For the past 10 or so days however I have been experiencing extreme anxiety. Far worse than anything I've felt before. I've been constantly worrying about a variety of topics. As one subsides another takes it's place. I've had a few panic attacks during this time and have been crying a lot. My partner is taking me to the doctors as soon as we can get an appointment but I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for how I can manage this in the mean time.
Just hearing about other experiences would be helpful too.
Thanks

Hi Petrie, welcome to beyond Blue forums
Good idea asking this. Ok.
Deep breathing- as it says, slow deep breathing in a quiet place
Muscle tensioning exercises- I do this nightly lying in bed before sleeping. The whole process takes about 20-25 minutes if done correctly. Lie down. Get relaxed. Start by tensioning the muscles in your toes, then feet, thighs, etc each time hold the tension for about 15 seconds then let go. Continue till the face and head muscles. Once finished tension up ALL your bodies muscles and also hold for 15 seconds. Then remain relaxed. The heart rate will slow. Often you'll sleep now.
